BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Craig: What kind of difference would Hand or Britton have made for Houston this postseason? Dave Cameron: Who knows? Giles is better than Hand by a lot, and similar in talent to Britton, and he’s been terrible. --- Does Dave Cameron even watch baseball? By which metric would we consider Giles "better than Hand by a lot"?? I came very close to posting this earlier. I don't understand why anyone would ask Cameron about anything. The only guys on that site with interesting takes are Sullivan and Eno.

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Chris Mitchell The KATOH guy? Yeah, I guess sometimes
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 The KATOH guy? Yeah, I guess sometimes Unlike Cameron, he's very open to criticism, and he's changed his KATOH formula multiple times due to comments on his posts.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Better question, having known that Dave Cameron is a huge moron for a number of years, why do you still take him seriously? I don't take him seriously. I read all Fangraphs chats just to fill the gaping void in my life.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 The KATOH guy? Yeah, I guess sometimes He's the sole reason I netted Bregman and Benintendi. Also the reason I picked Peterson in nearly every draft. Also responsible for me drafting Marcus Wilson in DDL.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 KATOH is a fun tool but I personally find Mitchell's writing to be exceptionally boring. I just need baseball content though, good or bad.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 The offseason is underway! Best time of the year for us armchair GM's.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 The offseason is underway! Best time of the year for us armchair GM's. If the Angels could keep their starters healthy, they could be pretty dangerous. A lineup that includes Trout, Upton, Simmons, and Calhoun is pretty dangerous.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Just saw on the Score app that the contract is worth 106 million for 5 years. Seems like a good deal for the Angels.

It isn't bad...he disappears for such long periods of time though (like most of 2016) that I'd say it's got potential to blow up and be really bad. Angels are so bad against LHP (77 wRC+ last year) that at least it gives them a lefty killer.

Seems like it could be an overpay. Especially if the market for hitters is similar at all like last year.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Seems like it could be an overpay. Especially if the market for hitters is similar at all like last year. Meh, it's probably about right. He basically ended up getting an additional year on his contract for 17.5M, and a no-trade clause.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Whomever owns Upton, just cried a little.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Whomever owns Upton, just cried a little. I don't own Upton anywhere, but it's not all bad. He gets to hit behind Mike Trout, so he should rack up the RBIs.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Whomever owns Upton, just cried a little. Does stadium size even matter that much anymore?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Does stadium size even matter that much anymore? Should we assume that they will stick with the new slicker/lower-seamed/juiced/whatever-it-is ball? They haven't even admitted it exists. They could just as easily revert to a less homer-happy ball.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Heyman is saying that the lack of a posting system may be a snag still in Otani coming over next season. That would really suck as Otani being here is good for baseball. The good news out of this is that it is Heyman reporting it and he seldom is correct.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Does stadium size even matter that much anymore? Nah, not with the ball they're using.

Take a look at the RBI's that Pujols has been able to rack up behind Trout - whilest being one of the worst hitters in baseball (that is difficult to type, but it's true)

He's below replacement level already and they still have him under contract for 4 more years at $27, $28, $29, and finally $30 mil a year. Yikes!
