Cecil is gas-canning a game right now. Schwarber just took him for a 3 run ride.

 

He doesn't seem to have a lot of gas. Lots of pitches at 88-91, getting classified as cutters and changeups.

Erich: Why do you think Stroman struggled so much at the beginning of last year? Bad luck? Overuse of sinker? Stuff translates to better results id think.

Keith Law: I thought bad luck. Will never forget seeing some jays blogger saying in June that the team should send Stroman to AAA. It was like message-board level overreaction.

So the Padres knowingly signed the worst SP in the game, Jered Weaver. He started today, got followed by perennial gas can Cosart and now they are using a f***ing catcher in the 7th inning. And they expect fans to pay money to see this s***? I would feel insulted if I lived in SD.

 

It's become evident pretty quickly that Bethancourt is not an MLB RP... If they use him in this role all season he could be have one of the worst seasons of all time, combining his negative pitching WAR and lack of any offensive talent.

Yeah he sucks as a RP, C, OF and hitter. Add it all up and despite being "versatile" he isn't really versatile at all because he sucks in every situation he finds himself in.

Hunter Pence is only 33? It seems like he's been around forever
