Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 looks like Kevin Plawecki is already out forever: Did anyone tell this dummy that it's ST?
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Did anyone tell this dummy that it's ST? Nothing wrong with that slide. He had no way of knowing that the throw would be high.
Muck Bartinez Verified Member Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Nothing wrong with that slide. He had no way of knowing that the throw would be high. I agree. He also had no lane to the plate either, and it kind of looks like the catcher lands right on his hand which probably didn't feel great.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Nothing wrong with that slide. He had no way of knowing that the throw would be high. Yeah I'm not really sure where else he was supposed to slide.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Thornburg had more value than Osuna last year and is controlled until 2020. Thornburg is also a product of the NL who had HR and walk issues, and was helped by a low BABIP.. he's going to regress hard.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Thornburg is also a product of the NL who had HR and walk issues, and was helped by a low BABIP.. he's going to regress hard. As a reliever it's not like he was facing the opposing pitchers slot with an actual pitcher in it. Thornburg has also maintained a low babip for his entire ML career so far, so while a bit of regression from 2016 can be expected, something like .270 would be actually be above his career avg and still be below league average.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 How is Pagan still unsigned? Nats reportedly interested in a minor league deal.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 yeah I just don't get it. I think the projections are way underrating his defensive value in LF vs CF
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 It's frustrating that Pagan might sign on an MiLB deal and we're still rolling with Carrera and Smoak.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Yeah seriously. Sign Pagan and cut your losses with Zeke.

Sad. He was a gem and the face of the Mets.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Blanton to the Nats for $4M... that's annoying.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 And 3M is deferred! Only 1M this year. lol.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 How poor are the Nats? I don't remember ever seeing a contract that small include a bunch of deferred money.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 The amount of deferred money given by the Nats over the last few years is probably well over nine figures by now.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 How poor are the Nats? I don't remember ever seeing a contract that small include a bunch of deferred money. It's weird. I think Scherzer will be on their payroll long after his tenure as a Nat too. I wonder if they're penny pinching for the sake of landing a legit closer, even if it's part way into this season. They've been linked to David Robertson quite a bit.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 And 3M is deferred! Only 1M this year. lol. Would have preferred that deal to the one we gave Smith. Oh well.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Would have preferred that deal to the one we gave Smith. Oh well. Agreed but at the same time, if they don't sign Smith maybe they end up holding their dicks and you don't want that either. We all liked the Smith terms at the time.

We all liked the Smith terms at the time. Yeah I agree. Blanton was most likely more desperate now than he was back then. I'm surprised he couldn't at least get a nice two year deal somewhere though.
Ray Verified Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Alot of their contracts are oddly structured. The Strasburgh one is really weird as well.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I kinda get the feeling that Blanton really wanted to go there, for whatever reason. Surely there was more money to be made somewhere else on a 1 year deal.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Yourtitledidthistoyou 1:20 What would you actually rate Tebow and his tools on a 20-80 scale? Eric A Longenhagen 1:21 60 raw power, 20 hit, 40 run, 30 game power, 40 defense in left field and, I swear to you, a 40 arm. seems good
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 How poor are the Nats? I don't remember ever seeing a contract that small include a bunch of deferred money. It's going to come back to bite them after 2018.. so many backloaded deals will lead to a very bad team in 2019.. Scherzer, Strasburg, Zimmerman have huge numbers to be paid out in 2019, and they lose Harper and Murphy after 2018.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Lol how does a former NFL quarterback (albeit a s***** one) have a below average throwing arm?
