Heh, I get the intellectual dishonesty with stat cherrypicking but is there a person alive that didn't roll their eyes at the Britton wasn't a closer, then Matt developed him part?

That's just garbage vomiting from mouth.

No kidding. Britton's emergence as arguably the best closer in baseball was obviously Showalter's genius and mastery of all thing baseball.

That's why I think he's clearly past his prime. I think the statistical reality of baseball has lapped Boras.

His arguments on the podcast for a team giving Weiters a ton of money were:

1) He's like Carlton Fisk!!!

2) No team ever wins the World Series with a young catcher.

3) some weird point about Buster Posey?

4) rambles

Kinda funny, since the year Britton became a closer (and the following year) were the two years Wieters was out almost all year. Maybe Caleb Joseph should be the one getting credit.

A-Rod has told reporters that he's now officially retired. Not really that surprising, but with 696 career home runs I thought he might have signed on for a cameo role somewhere like Seattle to either catch Babe Ruth or just hit 700 and help sell some tickets.

I thought he might try for it as well but no one really cares about his home run milestones since he's a known and admitted 'roid user. It also takes a lot to get geared up and ready to play just to chase a largely meaningless milestone. There probably would only be a handful of teams that would be mildly interested.

I think him trying to overtake Babe Ruth would be entertaining enough just for opposing fans booing him every at bat!

The Yankees are still paying him $21m this year, making him the 16th highest paid position player in 2017. Crazy.

And yeah that's the other thing, he'd basically be playing for free as he gets that money no matter what.

That's one of the main reasons I thought a team would give him an opportunity to play - it's such a low commitment for any AL team that's out of playoff contention but wants to drum up some ticket sales as they'd only need to pay pro-rated minimum salary.

thats a savage neckbeard

Colby is trying to bring the Amish community to the ballpark in St. Pete somebody has to fill those seats!

So he grew out just for the team photo or the Rays told him to shave it. I think he just wanted to look stupid in his mug shot.

He didn't have to grow out his neck beard to do that.

Didn't Danny Espinosa do that?
