Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Agreed. What's to stop a pitcher from adding an extra hop or two. Maybe something to bring them half way to the plate before they release the ball One normally would say "the rules" in response to your question; however, seeing as MLB reviewed and concluded what Capps does is legal - I now have no f'ing idea.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Mets starting rotation is made of glass The problem with building your team almost entirely around a young core of starting pitching. Probably would have been smart to have traded one or two of them for some positional players to mitigate the risk back when they had the chance.

Thats why I was hoping Toronto would trade one of their Starters for a position player this offseason. Having 5 above average SP is almost a waste since you only really need 3 in the postseason. Especially when there is a gaping hole in LF.

I would have been down for that if said pitcher was JA Happ. I wasn't really enthused about shipping out Stroman after a down year from a results standpoint.

Well obviously depends on the return. I would have been fine with the blackmon deal if he had a lot more control and was younger. I'd even have moved Sanchez.

If Blackmon had the same years of control, sure, I may have been more open to it. Anyone can be moved for the right return, that said, I'd like to see us lock up Strochez to team friendly deals first, so their value is at an all-time high.

Well doesn't look like either are signing extensions. If Stroman was he would have signed before they went to arb.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Kevin Jepsen to Diamondbacks: Low risk / high reward, minor league deal but if he makes the roster and bounces back might be able to trade him at the deadline for an interesting piece.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I just listened to a podcast in which fangraphs lead prospect analyst Eric Longenhagen expressed serious concern about Jose De Leon's HR rate in his 17 MLB innings last year.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 He does have some legit HR concerns, and some durability concerns. I think the command he has is going to mitigate the HR concerns in the long run.
