Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Pablo Sandoval lost a lot of weight, possible comeback season? The Red Sox traded both Travis Shaw and Moncada, so 3B is Panda's job to lose. He looks like a different person with the weight he's lost.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Its painful to see how much talent the Redsox have. Hopefully Hanley takes a big big step back this year, and that offense without Ortiz falls apart. Would be nice to see a dysfunctional clubhouse.

Unfortunately, 3B is his only position available to play..

TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Brock Holt will have that job so fast every team should have a Brock Holt. Plays every position, great baserunner, never hear him complain. Signs before arbitration at less than what he should. Even in his range issues last year he still had 7 DRS. Plus he went to Rice, so I assume he's not a complete idiot.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Braves continue their dedication to bringing in vets for the new stadium. Braves acquire 2B Brandon Phillips from the Cincinnati Reds for LHP Andrew McKirahan and RHP Carlos Portuondo. Fringe prospects at best. In the end I don't mind it. It's just $14M and they could move him at the deadline for better.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I'm shocked Phillips finally agreed to a trade - and to Atlanta, of all teams.

As far as affordable utility players go he's pretty much ideal. I'm shocked Phillips finally agreed to a trade - and to Atlanta, of all teams. It feels like Phillips has been a trade candidate forever, and he very well could be again this season if he finds any sort of success in Atlanta.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 This is definitely good news for Jose Peraza, but possibly even Dilson Herrera.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I think he's from georgiaHe is, yeah. Still, he seemed desperate to stay in Cincinnati.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Author Posted February 12, 2017 Also worth mentioning that Sean Rodriguez will be out 3-5 months for surgery following that bad car accident. Not sure how much this influenced the Phillips trade, though. edit: SOURCE

Obviously being fit and healthy should also allow him to be more mobile.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 They really like the 28 year old Cuban? Probably the LOOGY prospect guy more. Also, figured giving Peraza the job had more utility than letting BP plug a spot for another annoying year.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Well he vetoed like 4 trades. In the last two years. I wonder how good those looked for the Reds
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2017 Author Posted February 12, 2017 Maybe they told him he'd be a reserve player this year and that they wouldn't be offering an extension. It makes more financial sense for him to put up actual numbers somewhere considering he had only one more season in Cincinnati anyway.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Adam Lind to the Nationals pending a physical.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Adam Lind to the Nationals pending a physical. Could be decent platoon at 1st with Zimmerman
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Brandon Phillips drives me nuts. Just retire please.
Ray Verified Member Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Travis Wood headed to the Royals. As much as I dislike the Royals, they've had a solid offseason. Under the radar, but still good. I'd say they have a decent chance at a wildcard this season before their entire core hits free agency.

I thought they had no money, Cant wait for Rex Hudler to tell us Travis Woods is an absolute Ace. What a f***ing homer

I wouldn't rule them or Detroit out for the Central--despite all the talent and Edwin, Cleveland does have injury risks with Brantley and the rotation.. plus, how will Kluber, Miller, Tomlin, Bauer be after throwing so many innings last postseason? And they still have OF depth concerns, especially if Brantley doesn't come back 100%.. And of course, Cleveland is likely to get nothing out of their catchers.. neither Perez or Gomes have hit at all, though Perez at least has some OBP skills.. they're basically waiting for Francisco Meija to reach the majors in 2018, who will more than likely taking over C duties by then..

That sounds amazing. Oh and Thor is pure food porn. Enjoy.
