Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Not really sure where we will turn now if this is in fact true. Bautista or perhaps trades.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Bautista/Moss/Saunders is all that is really left.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I resonate strongly with both of these tweets.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 What they can do is spend the remaining 20-30 Mil on short term contracts and then say that they tried
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Great news. Jose for 2 years please
Guitar Guy Verified Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 It's really looking like the Jays will be quite mediocre in 2017.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 who's left? Rasmus, Moss, Pagan, Saunders, Bautista, Valbuena, Napoli, are all interesting to some degree, with Napoli and Valbuena pushing Pearce to the OF on a near full-time basis.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Come on guys, we all know Jay Bruce is going to be a Bluejay soon enough, just accept it.

I still really like Moss as an option. He's not as good as Fowler, or as good a fit, but he should come a LOT cheaper and is still an average outfielder defensively. He and Upton would provide a very nice platoon.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 w/e, save up for Harper 2018.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 This is good news IF we allocate the ~70 mil and draft pick assets elsewhere. Bautista and Granderson top my list, but there are many appealing trade targets. Get one of them and a guy like Seth Smith and the offense looks great.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Suck a bag of dicks Fowler.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I don't really see any more on this. We need Kenny Rosenthal to give us a scoop.

I'd sign him regardless and they need 2 OF.

Sit him against tough lefties (maybe an Upton platoon) and he'll produce close to 2 wins, and likely comes on a 1 year deal. I also really like the idea of Valbuena. He's quietly put up a 115 wRC+ over 1400 PA the last three years. He's been an average defender at 3B, which means he'd probably be a good defender at 1st, can handle 2B if you need him to, and I'd probably give him time on the OF in spring to see how he looks. That's a flexible piece, and the expectations seems to be a contract in the 2/20 range for a guy you'd expect about 4 WAR from over the two years.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Time to take my Bautista jersey out the can!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 It will be Jose. s*** defence in right again but should be motivated after being embarrassed during free agency.

For what it's worth, he did say that he "confirmed with "the Cardinals", meaning he's confirmed it with the club. Interesting that he's doing the physical before it's even confirmed that he's signed with them. Maybe that means he hasn't. But things aren't looking good.
