KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I was always a big proponent but given our current roster he wasn't needed anymore. I love that this front office managed to put the team in this position. At this time last year, Happ, Estrada and Liriano weren't acquired yet and no one knew if Sanchez would EVER cut it as a starter much less do so in 2016. Tremendous progress.

Feels so good to enter an offseason with a 5-man rotation of starters who are at least average. I don't think that's ever happened before.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 But will Morrow benefit from the Dickey effect That is the question we must ask
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I don't think Dickey was ever as bad as people made him out to be and his great second half was a big part of our turn around last season. He won't be missed because our rotation is set but I hardly see a reason to chase him out of town.
Drumcliff Verified Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Good luck to RA. It was often painful to watch him pitch, and the fact the Jays had to carry Thole on the roster to catch him drove me nuts, but I never doubted his effort and commitment. Hope he does well in Atlanta.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Well it's official, we are Dickey free!!!!!!!!!!
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Per Braves media Tyler Flowers has been asked to catch the knuckleball. And Dickey gets $7.5m in 2017
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 RA DICKEY got $8M guarantee on braves deal. 7.5M for '17, 8M team option, 500K buyout for '18

I'd be pretty disappointed if Toronto just gave him that.

Meh, for a rebuilding team who will need starters, signing a vet innings eater to hold up the rotation for the price of a <1 win player is fine. The Blue Jays are in a completely different position from the Braves. Note that I hate watching RA Dickey pitch so complimenting the Braves on the signing was hard.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Super happy about this. Wish him well...but his time here...even at that price...was done. The 4 year circus has left town. A seemingly nice guy - a decent 2 WAR innings eater who came with an unappealing caddy, who could never supplant the angst we still face every time Thor takes the bump.
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Nothing wrong with a Brave Dickey
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 1 year, option for 2018. Dollar figure unknown, but we don't exactly care about the dollar figures on this one here, do we? Perfect fit for him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 http://i.imgur.com/YW5cUOU.gif I saw a Jays fan on twitter with this as their profile pic the other day, it isn't you is it?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 lol no, though now I'm curious. I just did an image search and can't find it(just the American flag one's)... I should've made a point of remembering his handle.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Every time he pitched I thought of Thor. Maybe I can finally get over the trade.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Best news all week. Now I will no longer head to the dome already in a pissed off mood knowing that Dickey is on the mound in a Blue Jays uniform!
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Dickey....in the cy young voting next year

Yeah He's one bad season away from retirement obviously so the option year is way better than 2 guaranteed from the team's perspective
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 What are the dimensions of their new ballpark? Assume its a pitcher's park still? I'll be there in July next year, I hope they have a home series while I'm in town
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I'll be there in July next year, I hope they have a home series while I'm in town Nice. Schedule is already out I believe. I plan on going to Wrigley in August when the Blue Jays play there. Also going to Tampa in February so going to check out Spring Training again.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 This offseason truly is the end of the Alex Anthoupolous era.
