jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Would Oakland be willing to trade Sean Doolittle? If so, what would it take to get him? Doolittle and Vogt would be ideal targets.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Maybe the Mets have lined up signing a FA, and are looking to get rid of both. It could be a situation of, take Bruce and get a reduced cost on Granderson or something. I'm thinking they may be starting to regret picking up that option on Bruce ... Jays aren't taking on 28m in salary for those 2. Anyways, I'm more of the thinking that it's worth it to lose the draft pick and just sign JB if they are considering something stupid like that.

I'm just trying to piece together the snippets we get from reports into something that could explain them.
wamco Verified Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I think it was more Bruce or grandy, not both. I didn't mean to imply both

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Would Oakland be willing to trade Sean Doolittle? If so, what would it take to get him? Considering he's made of glass not that much. Love when hes on the mound but he needs to be babied.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Granderson makes sense. Put him in RF and platoon him with Upton. However, if the Mets want an actual prospect, then that's probably the hurdle.

However, if the Mets want an actual prospect, then that's probably the hurdle. Outside of 2015, Granderson has actually been pretty decent against lefties the last 5 or 6 years. It's probably not necessary to platoon him (at least not strictly).
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Morosi just said on MLB network that jays and mets still talking Bruce and granderson I like Grandy a lot as a target. Thing is... I'm really skeptical about how much meat is on Morosi's rumours. He's the sort who throws out ideas and "things that make sense" probably knowing it'll get picked up as a legit leak or rumour. Kenny Ken is still my main man.

Morosi just talks out of his ass, probably for click-bait and follows. He likes to include the Blue Jays because the fans have a very active presence on the internet and social media, more specifically. I can't recall any one of his Blue Jays rumours ever actually coming to fruition, but I could be wrong.

So he has quite a following. I'm sure he speculates a lot but I don't think he does that to get more hits. Most those people are already following him. Hrs genuinely interested in the Blue Jays and all things Canadian.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Morosi going to hashtag BlueJays until a move actually happens.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 What would people be willing to give up for grandy

I don't think his interest in Canada is relevant when he knowingly starts his little rumour fires about the Jays. He hashtags Blue Jays 50 times per winter in hopes of getting as many eyes as possible on his work. That's what he gets paid for.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Hrs genuinely interested in the Blue Jays and all things Canadian. He's genuinely interested in driving traffic. The Blue Jays have one of the most rabid fanbases on the internet, I've seen many American writers say as much. The very existence of this board is good evidence of that.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Are there seriously not boards for other teams with the same traffic and activity as this one?
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I'm a little confused on why Grandy is even available, he seems like he's still a good player on a reasonable contract.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I'm a little confused on why Grandy is even available, he seems like he's still a good player on a reasonable contract. They need a CFer and currently have 3 legit corner OFers (if Bruce can even be considered legit).
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 They need a CFer and currently have 3 legit corner OFers (if Bruce can even be considered legit). So one of Pillar or Pompey has to come back in the deal?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 They need a CFer and currently have 3 legit corner OFers (if Bruce can even be considered legit). 4 with Conforto
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 So one of Pillar or Pompey has to come back in the deal? No way. That wouldn't make any sense for us.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 4 with Conforto Derp. Of course, shouldn't have forgotten him. So yeah they have a glut.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 So one of Pillar or Pompey has to come back in the deal? They have Nimmo. I kind of get the feeling this is more about securing their outfield for next year as well, while cashing in on Granderson before he's a FA again.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 I'm a little confused on why Grandy is even available, he seems like he's still a good player on a reasonable contract. They have Cespedes, Bruce, Granderson, Conforto, Lagares, and Nimmo.
Santoki Verified Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Please don't feed the pathetic troll this Christmas season. Thanks New to these parts. Noted and ignored.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 So one of Pillar or Pompey has to come back in the deal? That would be a pretty bad trade if any of those players were involved for 1 year of a 35 year old. Not to mention, Pillar is way more valuable than Grandy and makes way less.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Well depending how much salary they are eating for Clay. The Red Sox just opened up room to sign Edwin.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 And of course the Phillies ate the entire contract. Expect to hear Edwin to the Red Sox soon.
