Would Oakland be willing to trade Sean Doolittle? If so, what would it take to get him?

Doolittle and Vogt would be ideal targets.

Maybe the Mets have lined up signing a FA, and are looking to get rid of both. It could be a situation of, take Bruce and get a reduced cost on Granderson or something. I'm thinking they may be starting to regret picking up that option on Bruce ...

Jays aren't taking on 28m in salary for those 2. Anyways, I'm more of the thinking that it's worth it to lose the draft pick and just sign JB if they are considering something stupid like that.

Oh, I agree. I'm just trying to piece together the snippets we get from reports into something that could explain them.

Grandy is an excellent target if the price is right.

Considering he's made of glass not that much. Love when hes on the mound but he needs to be babied.

Granderson makes sense. Put him in RF and platoon him with Upton. However, if the Mets want an actual prospect, then that's probably the hurdle.

Outside of 2015, Granderson has actually been pretty decent against lefties the last 5 or 6 years. It's probably not necessary to platoon him (at least not strictly).

Morosi just said on MLB network that jays and mets still talking Bruce and granderson

I like Grandy a lot as a target. Thing is... I'm really skeptical about how much meat is on Morosi's rumours. He's the sort who throws out ideas and "things that make sense" probably knowing it'll get picked up as a legit leak or rumour. Kenny Ken is still my main man.

Morosi just talks out of his ass, probably for click-bait and follows. He likes to include the Blue Jays because the fans have a very active presence on the internet and social media, more specifically.

I can't recall any one of his Blue Jays rumours ever actually coming to fruition, but I could be wrong.

You have to keep in mind he makes frequent appearances on Canadian radio. So he has quite a following. I'm sure he speculates a lot but I don't think he does that to get more hits. Most those people are already following him. Hrs genuinely interested in the Blue Jays and all things Canadian.

Morosi going to hashtag BlueJays until a move actually happens.

I don't think his interest in Canada is relevant when he knowingly starts his little rumour fires about the Jays. He hashtags Blue Jays 50 times per winter in hopes of getting as many eyes as possible on his work. That's what he gets paid for.

He's genuinely interested in driving traffic. The Blue Jays have one of the most rabid fanbases on the internet, I've seen many American writers say as much. The very existence of this board is good evidence of that.

I'm a little confused on why Grandy is even available, he seems like he's still a good player on a reasonable contract.

They need a CFer and currently have 3 legit corner OFers (if Bruce can even be considered legit).

So one of Pillar or Pompey has to come back in the deal?

4 with Conforto

They have Nimmo. I kind of get the feeling this is more about securing their outfield for next year as well, while cashing in on Granderson before he's a FA again.

They have Cespedes, Bruce, Granderson, Conforto, Lagares, and Nimmo.

That would be a pretty bad trade if any of those players were involved for 1 year of a 35 year old. Not to mention, Pillar is way more valuable than Grandy and makes way less.

Well depending how much salary they are eating for Clay. The Red Sox just opened up room to sign Edwin.

And of course the Phillies ate the entire contract. Expect to hear Edwin to the Red Sox soon.

Yep, that sounds about right. It will be a pretty interesting Red Sox vs Cubs/Dodgers world series next year.
