reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 you're upset the front office couldn't predict the future, there's no logical conversation to be had here They have so-called expertise in predicting how markets (especially for one of their star players who they should use a lot of their resources toward) for players will play out. If you think it's fine for them to think expected price tomorrow=price today then that's hilarious. It's a huge part of their job to try and understand Edwin's potential market.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 If our FO predicted it, so would other FO and his agent. What happens if you stall on Morales, he signs elsewhere and so does Edwin? I dont think anyone could have envisioned that EE would be having issues getting an offer in the 4/80 range. But other FO didn't offer him 4/80 apparently. Markets aren't as perfect as you are implying IMO.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Rockies I would trade Stroman for: Nolan Arenado Jon Gray Trevor Story (I guess?) Tyler Anderson (maybe?) that's it! Stroman aside, I'd be happy to take Dahl off their hands.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Stroman aside, I'd be happy to take Dahl off their hands. Stroman aside, bring me: Dahl Tapia Chatwood Hoffman Ottavino Bettis ..... I wonder if the Rockies even realize that they actually have a really strong rotation one through six?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Happy Birthday Jonn. Happy birthday Jonn!! Happy Birthday Jonn Happy Birthday Jonn. Thanks guys much appreciated!
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I think that this front office would rather have Jay Bruce than Jose Bautista and keep the draft pick Obviously Mets wants an asset for Bruce or he would be a Jay right now. If this was a salary dump Shatkins would have jumped all over it. It's just a waiting game to the Jays
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Stroman being discussed in trade talks with Colorado. Probably nothing to see here. Probably nothing going to happen. I wonder if they would consider Blackmon and Hoffman for Stroman.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Probably nothing going to happen. I wonder if they would consider Blackmon and Hoffman for Stroman. probably, Hoffman sucks
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Probably nothing going to happen. I wonder if they would consider Blackmon and Hoffman for Stroman. Pft, that should get them Mike Trout!
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I didn't see a twitter link so thought I'd share. They have a deep farm system so they could sweeten the pot in a hurry. But we have no replacement for Stroman in our rotation and we want to be competitive. Idk, what would they have to throw in on top of Blackmon before you'd do it?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Our rotation is our strength we shouldn't trade from it. If we are going to be successful it's going to be because we have our deep rotation Say what you will about Price and Sale and that other overrated cy young award winner those guys are a bit older then what we have I am not putting down the Yankees or the Redsox starters but that is the age when performance drops and injuries start showing up.

Smoak and McGee would get me talking, but I'd much rather deal prospects.

Stroman for Blackmon+Bettis I'll also take McGee off their hands as a throw in, please and thank you. Tyler Anderson is really good but I don't want to just assume the Rockies would do something that dumb.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 hell yes Blackmon please. Not straight-up.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Not straight-up. I hope we dont get him. Giving up a solid young pitcher for primarily a guy that had one good year. Id rather keep the rotation and sign someone for the OF at this point.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I haven't checked his home and away splits but I would imagine that season was also inflated by Coors. He had a tremendous season on the road. He's not a Coors only product in fact he hit 17 homeruns on the road and 12 at Coors. He has speed, he makes contact, moving to an Outfield corner will help his value even more. I love the player but Stroman straight up was a good no. Rockies are going to move an Outfielder and Blackmon in LF should be a big target for us if the price is right.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I haven't checked his home and away splits but I would imagine that season was also inflated by Coors. Last season was an outlier for him, he had 17hr away and 12 at Coors iirc. 144 WRC+ away, 116 at Coors. 2015: 111 Home, 89 away 2014: 122 Home, 71 away.
metafour Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I haven't checked his home and away splits but I would imagine that season was also inflated by Coors. He actually hit for most of his power on the road, but at the end of the day he's a guy who was a 100-105 wRC+ hitter for three seasons and all of a sudden put up a 130 wRC+ season backed by a huge uptick in power. He doesn't walk much, and he's not very good defensively either. He can clearly hit; but guys who rely on high BABIP tend to age worse and be less dependable than BB-driven batters.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) Home/away splits for Rockies players aren't always reliable because of the "Coors Field Hangover Effect." They seemingly disproportionately suck on the road more than most players. Edited December 8, 2016 by Terminator
ChrisS Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Maybe a small increase in his offence can be attributed to the fact that he hit infront of LeMahieu, Arenado, Story and CarGo.
Bangbangchikachika12 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 If we trade Stroman for Blackmon straight up i might actually be sick. That would be terrible, Blackmon's only had one good year and Pompey is projected to have a better WAR than Blackmon (doubt it will happen). Just sign Fowler and keep Stroman, we can't afford to trade away starters right now. Brendan Rodgers and Blackmon for sure (doubt they would include him in a trade tho)

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) 1. Rumour has it no one has offered Edwin more than 3 years 60M 2. Jays rumoured to have 25M left to spend and they want to sign one OF one backup catcher and 2 RPs 3. They want a quality outfielder and don't want to compromise there in order to make room for Edwin Edited December 8, 2016 by G-Snarls
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Billy Hams available and we're not in? We're dumb.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Trading for Eaton would have been sweet but he was expensive in prospects. Obviously in large part because he's on such a team friendly contract
Governator Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Rob Manford on Fan590 right now, Biagini will be on at 11:30 or something like that which is always good.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Billy Hams available and we're not in? We're dumb. We already have a CF and Hamilton's bat doesn't exactly play in a corner. Sure he's lightning fast but he really isn't the type of player to complain about missing on.
