BTS Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 I was just thinking him and Upton would be good in Left together. He could be a good buy low guy that could help fill a hole and save money for other positions. MLBTR had a post about him being non-tendered and possibly going back to Washington on a MiLB deal. I'd definitely throw him 1-2M guaranteed to platoon in left if his market is that week.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Hated the way he left Toronto, after 'striking out' against Kansas City, with two of the worst calls I've ever seen.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 What does everyone think of a Kevin Jepsen signing? Coming off a terrible year, but success in the two prior years. His Ks are down though, so maybe the reaper is already hanging over him. I don't think he was particularly good in 2015 either, just some ERA luck. Velo has declined three straight years, sharp drop in swstr, throws fewer strikes than ever while giving up a shitload of contact. No thanks. His days as a solid reliever are over imo.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Loved Revere here. Wasnt an allstat but very solid all around player. I wanted to shoot every "fan" who blasted him for striking out in that 9th inning with the worst strike call I may have ever seen

Yeah that was brutal. The irony was that Revere was the perfect guy to have there. He literally gives you a 90% chance of not striking out but there's nothing you can do when you get robbed like that. It's nice to have a guy like him in your lineup, a guy who can make something out of nothing and balances out the three true outcome types.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 I'm not convinced that Upton is worthy of even platooning so that said having Revere as his platoon partner would make me nervous. That platoon has the potential of two duds putting up almost no production. That said, if signing Revere for scraps facilitates a move for bigger FA's then I could be convinced.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 If Revere is non tendered then I'm expecting the Jays to sign him. Fits everything the Jays are apparently looking for (LH, doesn't strike out, good base running, etc). Wouldn't shock me at all. Just depends on whether he's non tendered. Although he would bat lead off under Gibby.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 What happened to Revere last season? Those are some ugly numbers.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Revere doesn't really need a platoon partner. His career splits suggests he's actually better vs. LHP. That might make him a good candidate though, as he could play fulltime if Upton turns into a pumpkin. I'm find with bringing Revere back on the cheap, especially since we need 2 OFers, but I can't help but wonder if we'd be better off giving Pompey that opportunity. We know what Revere's ceiling is and it's not very inspiring. Pompey's ceiling may be 2015 Ben Revere - but there's also a chance it's much higher. It was so hard watching Revere throw in LF.

Governator Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Blue Jays Sign Michael Ohlman, Jarrett Grube To Minors Deals The Blue Jays announced on Monday that they’ve signed catcher Michael Ohlman and right-hander Jarrett Grube to minor league contracts and invited the pair to Major League Spring Training.

Old news, brah. I guess it was just made official.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Some strange and odd pitching additions the Jays have made this off season really!!!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Some strange and odd pitching additions the Jays have made this off season really!!! It's AA and AAA depth, not much more... you'll see guys get axed prior to the 25 man for the 17' season.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I wouldn't mind Revere at the right price but then you have Pillar plus Revere, Upton, Pompey and Carrera - four players with very similar skill sets who would be trending just a little above replacement value. Not sure if that's the best way to construct the roster and I sure as hell would hope that the Jays would aim higher for RF and be stuck with a glut of interchangeable OF.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Eovaldi was released by the Yankees. He could make an interesting addition to the pen, possibly as a long man. If he could rediscover his slider from a few years ago (his velocity has actually increased in general), he'd be an intriguing later game arm. He only made 5.6M last year and wasn't claimed, so the price would likely be affordable. edited: Didn't realize he had TJS. Wouldn't be the worst guy to pick up on a 2 year team friendly deal.
