Cleveland one of the worst teams in the league at squaring up fastballs, Jays staff best in the league at utilizing fastball/sinkers. Hard to hit home runs off jays pitchers because despite high exit velocity launch angles are low. In order for Cleveland to be successful against the fastball they'll have to hit lots of line drives and balls on the ground for base hits because they likely wont hit many home runs.

 

The Blue Jays of course have led the league in home runs, but while the Indians are not a home run slugging team on par with Toronto, they are just a wee bit behind the Blue Jays in slugging percentage. We hit a lot of doubles and triples, which closed the gap with Toronto in this department. We have hit our share of home runs, but we tend to spray a lot of triples and doubles, and coupled with our superior base running/stolen bases (a weak spot for Toronto's defense) I look for us to be very aggressive on the base path.

It's going to be 18 on Friday and 23 on Saturday in Cleveland this weekend.

 

Probably much cooler than 18C between 8pm-11pm? heh

I really don't see why the media is making it an issue. Obviously Gibby is going to go with Liriano on the roster today. 24-man roster is no big deal. If you are that desperate, throw Sanchez out there

 

He's right though. These rules don't do anything to protect concussed players and it almost seems like they are arbitrarily making up the rules as they go.

 

To be clear, I don't think they are out to get the Jays or anything, but I don't get the secrecy and inconsistency.

The vague response from the MLB official doesn't really address the issue but I think what they're trying to avoid is giving a team a chance to burn a player. Hypothetically, if today's game went south poorly, the team could burn Feldman for four inning or something and then just kick him to the curb tomorrow and replace him with a fresh body in Liriano.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but here's the roster for the ALCS.

 

Smoak couldn't make the cut. That extension looks horrible right now.

This is exactly what I was hoping they would do. Pompey's speed on the bases could be crucial and including Goins gives us the ability to pinch-hit for Barney in late-game situations if Travis can't play. Smoak is completely useless and we don't need both Feldman and Tepera. Either one being cut would have been fine with me. Nice job on the roster.

Pinch hitting for Barney will probably fall to Navarro. No thanks.

Alright, if we win tonight, I'm going to go all in and buy a World Series Home Game #4 (game 6) ticket. I'm looking at $900 USD right now, lvl 500, row 1.
