When you compare his WAR production and 2/36mm deal to Edwin and Jose's, its very hard to pay the kind of numbers/term that have been thrown around for 1B/DH's, even with some kind of reasonable premium for a shortage of elite level bats in the FA market.

 

 

I think the key difference is EE is 33 years old, not 37 so he could get scooped up on a 3-4yr deal. Texas will want him because Fielder is gone and the fact they'll never consider signing Bautista. Beltre/EE back to back is scary to think about. Throw in Boston's fans already thinking he's going to be signed there and Toronto wanting him back, there's going to be a bidding war for him from 3 of AL's top teams. That's why he's destined to get paid really. Then there's a possibility in Seattle with 1B open and any NL team that thinks he's worthy of playing 1B full time for a couple more years.

Donaldson is a slight advantage over Beltre right now. With a good hip and good legs he'd be way better, but its no secret that his health has hampered his offensive abilities right now

More relaxed for this game/series (now at least) than the WC. I feel after this strange season and a rough SEPT like we are playing with house money right now, and anything is possible.

 

I'm confident in our rotation, less so in our pen, D and offense. But I know that they have all the talent they need to win, if they bring it.

When Barry Bonds got old they did a really good job of managing his playing time. Admittedly he was late 30s not early.

 

Last year Gibbons seemed to be trying to manage Tuols time... this year he didn't.

 

Anyway... maybe they should schedule more off times and down time for these guys?? Aim for a healthy 150 games??

It's awesome that EE is getting the respect he deserves from the media but I can't believe how many people sleep on the fact that it was this home run last year vs Cole that really gave the Jays a chance in Game 5.

Makes sense. Don't put extra thoughts in his head. He should just worry about making the pitch that Martin calls for. Martin would be the player that would be watching all the film and coming up with a game plan for each batter. Estrada doesn't call his own pitches.
