Still puzzled on all the pitches down the middle taken for strike 3, especially when the Yanks were afraid to throw many fastballs, it is downright weird. Can't remember a time seeing a team do it so much.

Holy f***. Rough game and day for us. We are playing like ass and not getting many breaks. Grilli has been so good but got touched up twice on this road trip. Now would be a good time for 2015 Cecil to return and Jose to get hot and GTFO of RF.

 

Still, it doesn't matter. If we can grind out a win today and take care of business against the BoSox we are golden. We control our own Sept destiny and what more can you ask for. Some of our guys have to step up. Its that simple.

 

This team is too good and talented to callapse, however it really takes one bad run of games. I just hope we find our game again. Win today and win the series against Boston and it should be fine.

Just glanced over this thread and do not understand why Spanky or anyone else got banned. If Spanky wants to be positive that is his choice... if he wants to tell the negative people to go eat dicks that's his choice.

 

People are upset because Jays chances of no playoffs have gone from 5% to 20% over the last 5 days.

 

Jays chances of at least one playoff series have gone from 80% to 60%

 

Pretty big shift so people have the right to complain.

 

Spanky see's that the odds are still better than even that we get atleast Division series, fair enough.

 

What's the problem?? Looks like pretty reasonable that we have these differing opinions given the sudden decrease in playoff odds.

O2 has drawn a line in the sand about Spanky doing that and Admin is very supportive of O2 on that front. Spanky's behaviour doesn't come in a vaccuum of course. The reactionary negativety is frankly idiotic and it's not hard to see why it gets to Spanky but we're probably not going to ban people just for being reactionary idiots in a GDT thread. The idiots who aggravate Spanky are going to continue to be idiots. Spanky is not going to ignore them. o2 is not going to ignore Spanky and people are going to react when Spanky gets banned and o2 won't ignore that either and this problem is not really going to go away. It's going to resurface periodically. The rest of us mods can try to defuse tensions and I guess we need to be more proactive generally but TBH I wouldn't even read the GDTs if I wasn't a mod. They f***in' suck especially when the team's losing. Easily the worst threads on this board.

I am new, but the GDT thread was fine until that Spanky guy started going after people for silliness, the posts were not even bad he was upset over, what is a GDT thread for if not for reactions and discussion about the game?> If that gets you so angry you need to reevaluate your life. Going after other posters for an opinion should never be allowed within reason, it's not hard to ignore someone if you don't like saying the team doesn't go the other way enough.,...nor should people get s*** on for saying that.

I'd rather mods just delete / ban obvious troll accounts, spam, disgusting posts and let users sort it out themselves. If things gets out of hand with stupid name calling and off topic conversations that make your blood boil, delete the post and give warnings to get back on topic and move on. We really don't need to be banning veteran members constantly to drive them away. That ultimately kills the board (I know from administrating a board with 4 million posts that has fizzled). Also, we've already lost some quality members over the past year and don't really need more. Banning guys like King for mocking a situation is kind of ridiculous, he's one of the few members who provides quality content to the board and takes things much worse with new account posts than if you had literally done nothing.

Sometimes I read the game thread if I miss a game, instead of watching a rerun, or just checking the score - in a weird way it is an easier way to get the news...

Bautista has had a couple good games in a row (minus the running game? heh). He's walked 4 times in 2 games and did well in RF yesterday, made a cannon throw from the wall to nail Castro at 2B. Looked vintage Bats out there. Also got robbed of a HR from like 30mph winds straight in from left which would have been a game changer. I'm ready for Travis to lead off though.

 

Thanks Gov. Good to hear. I was in Van for some meetings yesterday and missed most of the game except the part where Grilli pitched in a lounge. Let's hope that continues. I never watch the highlights when we lose lol.

Real Accountant (Dogg) has harmlessly posted here for 2 years now. 90% know it's him. I respond to him on baseball terms only. We can monitor him, and can honestly say that he hasn't tried to sneak in a second account. That pretty much makes him a regular poster now. Vialotor we knew was MJ. Someone like Spanky knew it was MJ, but he can't just ignore him and only respond on baseball terms. A guy like MJ hates people thinking he's a legit poster, he wants people to get off topic. Games like last night's allow him to thrive. As King Kat says...if he stays in the GDT we shouldn't care. When he mocks us, I ban him. I'm not sure how many new registered accounts happen here daily, but if they are < 5 it's often easier to ban a member and disable new registrations temporarily (or with moderation approval). This prevents any of that from happening immediately afterward or however long you need like a 24hr period. That setting is underused in forums, it can save you grief.

 

Also, thanks for that I'd be happy to help if you expand the staff again in the future.

1. Spanky was banned because his posts are tiring, how anyone even questions his bannings, I have no idea. He would have been banned permanetly on any other forum. What he said may not been his worse, no one should have to listen to any of that. I get messages all the time from people that are sick of it.

2. When someone is banned, it is no one's business but the person being banned and the moderators. I've said it before and it shouldn't have to be repeated. We don't need it questioned, mocked, or us get insulted for banning someone. If it is really bothering you, contact me or the moderator that did it, not be an idiot in the forum. It should be an automatic ban, but a warning in that situation would have been a better idea. But creating multiple accounts and acting like an idiot should be a permanent ban as well. Reminds me of myself on the old forum
