Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 He was more of a running QB I thought. He was. If you look back at his career highlights most of his big moments were on the ground. During that miracle Denver season Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas bailed him out with some unbelievable catches that could have easily been interceptions. Tebow's throwing game was only effective once they took away the running game and he would stil go mutiple quarters without a completed pass lol. He was the definition of the hail marry.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Alford was a college QB too and scouts said the same about his arm. They are 2 different motions...
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Except he cant throw. That was his lowest grade in the workout with some scouts giving him 30s. And lets not forget his awful NFL career. Career winning % over .500!!!
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Would love to see him in a Jays uniform! It would have been awesome to see him Tebowing at home plate after a home run... http://tebowing.com/
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I LOVE that Tim Tebow's arm is below average. Was Tebow ever a CFL candidate?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I LOVE that Tim Tebow's arm is below average. Was Tebow ever a CFL candidate? No. He can't throw. CFL is a passing league. So is the NFL now for the most part.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Gross. He'd be a nice addition to your OF in the LOD.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I LOVE that Tim Tebow's arm is below average. Was Tebow ever a CFL candidate? Didn't Montreal own the rights to sign him if they wanted? I remember hearing that. Not sure he'd have success in the CFL anyways, which is more of a passing league to begin with.
Lil Looper Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I dont understand the hate for Tim Tebow Dude was a megastar in college and performed adequately at the NFL level. Dude just had wonky mechanics, coaches hate that and dismissed him too early. Tebow might be the most genuinely nice guy I've ever seen. He can command the respect and push his teamates IMO harder than almost anyone in the game. Id sign him just to stick him in those A ball leagues just so maybe his charisma and life philosophy can rub off on some of the kids. Seriously for most likely petty cash total why the hell not? He actually looks like he can hold himself in those low levels anyway
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 They are 2 different motions... Yep, spend most of your life working on the mechanics of one throwing motion, and it's bound to seep into the other.

He was and I believe even asked about it, he flat out said he doesn't want to play in the CFL. I guess he would rather not play at all than play for the CFL.

He needed a coach like Chip Kelly to save him but it just didn't happen.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 This made curious to see if anyone had dug into the question of how Tebow's skills would translate to the CFL. FWIW, Warren Moon says not well though his insights aren't really different than what everyone else is saying. You can't cut it in a three down league if you can't throw: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/9234640/warren-moon-tim-tebow-throwing-not-cut-cfl

gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 Tebow could be just what the Jays need for a World Series run. Tebow knows how to win. Just imagine the interviews Barry Davis would have with Tebow. And how much Hazel Mae would be all over him.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Was he ever tried in the wildcat? That seems like something he might have been able to pull off. Yeah they did. He did alright in that role but the wildcat has kind of faded from normal use. He wasn't a bad runner. I think a lot of teams wanted to try him out at other positions but he wasn't interested in that either. The year in Denver was interesting. His CMP% was a joke but he didn't turn the ball over that much and he ran for a lot of yards. I don't think he was as bad as people thought. Good enough to be a backup QB who plays some wildcat like you suggested. I think one problem is that he's a terrible practice QB. You give him your 2nd team reps and you've got throws all over the field all day. Everyone else's reps get affected.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I've always said I'd sign Hitler to a minor league deal... I'm still not so sure about giving one to Tebow...
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Sellout crowds in Dunedin for sure. Jays should actually do this. Not even kidding he would bring in Millions in revenue for Dunedin. Since the Jays are negotiating with the City right now for the ST site they should do a wink wink deal that Tebow would play for them next year.
intrigid Verified Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Since the Jays are negotiating with the City right now for the ST site they should do a wink wink deal that Tebow would play for them next year. What is it about Dunedin in particular that's so incredibly valuable to the organization?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 What is it about Dunedin in particular that's so incredibly valuable to the organization? Thats where the Jays ST facility is and Shapiro has mentioned how he wants it to be a year round training facility where the players live.

CBlake Verified Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 I will be interested when the dust settles and say there are a handful of teams at the table with a minor league offer, what peramiters he and is representatives are using to pick a team, ie does someone offer up the carrot of double A where the others are non-committal. I really do not see any harm in signing the guy and may go as far as not even bringing him to the big camp, let him do his thing at minor league spring training away keeping the media away. The only issue with that is minor league ST only really starts to take shape in mid March after a bunch of the kids return from the big camp and games begin to be played. You want to take a look at him early on, at least the first week against major league pitching. Now if the Jays were the team Dunedin would be an ideal landing spot at least from a commercial standpoint for a team that is second last in FSL attendance with 767 fans a night it may be to high a level right out of the gate but who knows only time would tell.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 This thread is stupid. Tebow doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would love to expose himself to Canada, and we've already seen evidence of that by his lack of desire to play in the CFL.

Holy f*** what are we, radiation?
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 If a team signed him, could they send him to winter ball to get him back in the baseball groove?
