EE to 1B, Bruce DH has to be an upgrade over Smoak.

 

EE to 1B and Bautsita to DH keeping Carerra in RF is an upgrade over Smoak lol. If cola comes back swinging you can shift Bautista to right and EE to DH against lefties

wRC+ of 78 and 91 in 2014 and 2015. Downgraded defense at 1st for EE.............I'm not so sure this is an improvement.

I just noticed. How come Kluber was chosen over Sanchez in the beginning but Sanchez was chosen to pitch and Kluber not?

Carrera being an upgrade to Smoak is debatable. Up to this point, yeah, but I can't shake the feeling that the rug will eventually get pulled out from under Zeke. Outside of the increased number of walks, he's the same old klutz.

He's had a good eye at the plate. And you know what I heard that's true, speed never slumps. Having a guy who can lay down a bunt and walk at a decent rate with some speed is better than an all or nothing homer guy. Plus we gain more with him in the OF and Bautista DHing than Smoak at first and Edwin DHing. Bautista has been really bad in the OF this year while Zeke has been OK.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I am just very skeptical of Zeke's skill set. If he's truly learned plate patience, then I'll be happy to be wrong.

Right now, Zeke in RF and Bautista at 1st/DH is better for the team.

A guy who can lay down a bunt, with speed and mediocre defense is better on the bench to come in when the time is needed for either pinch running or hitting late in the game. He's a 4th of who's had a good stretch of luck and bound to regress.

 

How can you talk about Bruce being hot for 2 months and then tout Carerra... wtf.

True. But my point is it's not like Smoak has that much of a better record. 0.4 career fWAR, 0.0 fWAR this year. Coming into this year, Zeke has a 0.7 fWAR across 5 MLB years with 1.4 fWAR this year so far. Paired with the fact that he's fast and can bunt, something this team is desperately lacking, he should have more of a right to start than Smoak

What? I think Bruce would be a great option? I responded to you saying just taking Smoak out and adding Bautista is already a positive, if we add Bruce or Upton even better

I'm not disagreeing with that!!!!! My scenario is if they don't add a bat!!!!!!! Obviously if you get a better replacement you put him instead of Carerra I'm not stupid
