The Phillies have acquired utilityman Jimmy Paredes from the Blue Jays, Philadelphia announced. Toronto will receive cash considerations in return. Paredes had been designated for assignment recently by the Jays.

Not really thread worthy. I'm shocked they DFA'd him to be honest. His in ability to play defense at all limits him to pinch hits so NL makes sense.

He'll have a better chance to play in Philly on a rebuilding club. If the Jays were looking for somebody to play a bench role, preferrably it needs to be one who can actually play the field--and Paredes is basically a DH/pinch-hitter at best, as he sucks in the INF and OF.. the main reason Baltimore and Toronto cut him.

 

Plus, we need 8 men in the pen right now so that some of our bullpen arms can have a breather.. especially with a series vs. Boston coming up.

I can't imagine the Jays are strapped for cash at all. I think the Jays are a cash cow for Rogers and they just aren't spending.
