Question: when do the Jays look at extending Estrada? I know he's locked in until 2017 but you have to think the Jays would like to get him for 2 more years past that. 2018 and 2019. Thoughts?

I'm also very interested to see what they do with JD. Does some of the rumoured clubhouse drama not sit well with Shapiro and Atkins? Or do they extend him long term making him the new face of the franchise?

I would really love it if Rogers put up the money for EE. I guess if they make it to the World Series it might happen. I read a comment on MLB Trade Rumors site that EE is only looking at 3 teams, Jays being one. It could be Bs but you never know.

I would think that the clubhouse drama would have to be titanically bad to ignore how much Donldson has done for the team

Donaldson may be unpopular with opponents but I don't sense a rift within the team. The team seems to rally around it's leaders and around Donaldson in particular. I doubt this is a real issue for Jays management. I think Billy Beane might have made it too much of an issue back in his Oakland days and Beane was mad to look a fool for it.

I could see friction between Bautista/Donaldson happening. Many times you hear from Gibby that ever since we got Martin/JD the Jays have had a different attitude than years past.

He's like, 80% gone next season. This is pointless lol

I don't really take those quotes as digs towards Bautista. If anything I take it as a dig at some of the players who are gone, specifically notorious lolygagger Adam Lind and notorious hot head Brett Lawrie.

This is exactly it. Additionally, 98% of this reported clubhouse "issue" was during the last week of the season when the Jays looked like they were going to fall out of the postseason race and the media needed to find something to blame it on. You can tell how much the guys love JD. Tulo and him look like best friends, Stroman is always hanging out with him outside of baseball. He and Bautista are both gamers, they feed off each other doing well, and nobody is happier for the other guy when they go deep than these 2. The clubhouse is fine, and even if there were some minute attitude problem, are we really gonna discount 2 MVP caliber seasons because of it? Come on

I think the issue with it is that not only are they all weekday games consecutively, but many people (like myself) have tickets to all 3 games, and cant make all 3. Im going on Tuesday and Wednesday but am forced to sell my Monday seats as Im from out of town and cant get that much time off of work.

I think the issue is that it's too easy to make a bucket load of money via resale.

Especially if as expected Tuesday and Wednesday are the early games. People will have tickets to sell as they can't make the 4 pm starts. Prices will come down a bit because of it.

Selling for more than 10 - 20% over face value should be illegal. I have no issue with being able to recoup your cash if you can no longer go, but too many people buy tickets they never intend on using, just to make money.

Ticket touters are illegal in England, though you still see a few outside stadiums and online sites can claim "admin fees" to sell at higher prices.

It's become a joke. I can understand if you bought tickets and then can't make an event but go to your group of friends first like everyone did years ago, they'd appreciate it a lot more and you won't be out any money. win win.

How do we read this? Is there so many that the price may plummet before game time, or is the secondary market so hot that it is driving the number of resellers?

Someone may know better than I but my guess is that prices drop closer to game time. The fees and/or upcharging involved with the secondary market generally make it so that it isn't profitable to buy and sell in the secondary market. Scalpers usually just try to snatch as many up as possible when they initially go on sale at face value and then they sell from that amount rather than doing some sort of secondary ticket exchange where they buy and sell tickets numerous times before the game.

I heard a story on CBC radio about Louis C.K. and how he voids any tickets that are sold online. I think it's great and hilarious.

This will never be fixed lol unless the Jays/MLB decide to ban Stubhub tickets and create their own reselling marketplace where you scan the ticket and you get to resell it at face value. But that will never happen because this secondary market allows games to be quickly sold out which is guaranteed money for the team. Plus attendance numbers are reflected by ticket sales right? Yeah I doubt this ever gets fixed lol

A lot of English teams do exactly this.

If you can't go, you effectively sell it back to the team, they then sell it on and are able to charge an admin fee. Also works for season ticket holders who can't attend a specific game.

This potentially would be a large revenue stream for MLB and I wouldn't be surprised to see it introduced one day.

Doesnt mlb already have a deal with stubhub? Too much admin work for playoff games.. MLB would be smart letting an outside source do all the work with no risk and skim off the top.

A five year deal that expires next year. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Maybe they'll renew with a max price cap, or decide they can make more money doing it themselves.
