Ya I don't know what's to celebrate about Beeston's time as president, other than longevity.

You need look no further than the Mariners to see what a disaster our franchise could have been for 40 years. If I remember correctly, we were winning world series after almost a decade of success before the Mariners even compiled a couple of .500 seasons. I don't know what specific role he had in everything, but to pretend that you know all and can judge him for it is absurd. We sure know what a bad president looks like in Paul Godfrey. Those uniforms still give me nightmares and the franchise's future was in doubt until Beeston came back.

One thing isn't in doubt. Paul Beeston is the most loyal supporter and fan that this team has ever had. Regardless of how you judge him in regards to hiring Gillick, getting a new stadium, hiring Shapiro, etc. he deserves respect for that alone.

What does it mean by "contributing" then, wise guy?

We just want him gone from the organization, period. Stop looking through blue-tinged glasses.

What a f***ing naive clown you are. On the IL you go.

Peter Bavasi hired Gillick. A new stadium was a given, the mistake by the lake could not continue. The end result, retracting roof is nice but the Rogers Centre is somewhat like a mausoleum. Beeston reportedly was not involved in the Shapiro selection.

We can credit him for hiring Gord Ash and AA, I suppose.

Of course he has 0 impact on anything baseball/business related to due with the Jays. That part is obvious. Though based on the interview it's clear Shapiro does ask Beeston questions which makes sense with it being Shapiro's first year in Toronto and all. I think the surprising thing is Beeston stuck around after Rogers were shady as f*** with him and a new FO coming in. Most people move out of their office when they retire. The fact that he's in the office almost everyday is just 'wat'. Go enjoy retirement.

The best part of the interview was when Shapiro was telling the story of how he asked Beeston what research/focus groups they conducted to support always having Saturday day games. Which Beeston simply stated "people have to BBQ Saturday night, it's as simple as that"

Beeston bringing back the logo and the blue to the Blue Jays has been an underrated part of Jays fever that has swept the land. (s***, I remember travelling around Europe after the uniform had changed - and the team was struggling - and was shocked by the number of Blue Jays caps I saw. Had never seen a Jays cap or shirt in Europe before then.) Edited by CrackerJack

Man did I very much dislike the black. Was so happy to get the new old cap for a birthday present when it was re-released ( :

How about a little energy in that dugout? The camera pan in there most days look like they're in a funeral parlor. The head down morose looks after every poor AB was never seen at any point last year, even when they were a .500 team. The "wait and see/it's early" mindset/comments from team members/coaches were never there last season but have been here all season long in 2016, even up to now. They never EXPECTED to just magically be better because of individual pedigrees, they did everything they could to force it with excellent ABs and low offensive K totals.

Some will laugh at the terms "team chemistry" or "tenacity" but they very much are a thing, and from most interviews I've heard, ranging from Stephen Brunt to Dan Shulman, that clubhouse is as solemn and quiet as it's been in years. Apparently, they came into camp "cocky" instead of "hungry" - Shulman.

Highly probable

That game that was lost due to Jose grabbing at the leg and breaking up a double play in Tampa in the 2nd game of the season will surely bite the Jays hard in the ass on home field advantage for Wild Card mark my words, thanks Jose/MLB.

Surely you aren't going back to game no.3

We have lost many more after that game that could have been won

Every team can think of a few games like that. Remember how the Jays beat the Sox when Travis scored on the ball Ramirez couldn't pick off the ground.

Lol I was re-listening to the PTS interview with Shapiro and Beeston because I missed the first half, and Shapiro was talking about one time he asked Beeston why the Saturday games are day games, Beeston's answer? He liked barbecuing Saturday nights so if there was a game he couldn't do that.

hahaha wtf that's amazing. Literally made a selfish decision on a big market team to suit himself lmao

I'll be at the game tonight.... 0-2 at jays games and 0-2 and Canucks games in my life.

Probably a good idea to sell your tickets.

I guess you don't care if they win. Pretty selfish.

Some will say you shouldn't overthink things. I suspect you'd be alarmed at how many similar stories there are out there. There's often a lot of luck involved with business success.
