He has been ok but his FB command is really an issue. Pitching behind too often making the slider less effective. Walks are an issue. Same MO he came over with thus far.

Yeah any hope that he would just seemingly flick a switch like Grilli did has been dashed. He's definitely a work in progress. Thankfully, Stroman has re-established himself lately so the team doesn't need a much from Liriano as they would have otherwise.

I haven't been able to watch either of Liriano past two starts- how has he looked?

He reminds me of Ricky Romero, when hitters were still chasing his breaking ball.

Did the giants end up releasing him or is he hurt again?

If Liriano has another stinker I'd move him to the pen after this start. 6 man rotation is just making the team weaker.

Don't you think he really has to get it together as a SP to really be of use? Hard to see them using him in the pen in any leverage with this BB/command issues, when they have Cecil. If you take him out of the rotation, it just makes Sanchez innings issues become the issue again. And of course we have RA and the fact that (notwithstanding a couple decent starts lately) his numbers overall have been awful.

A lot of pitchers survive in the pen with poor BB/command issues. You can hide I there.

DFA Dickey & Thole, sign Kurt Suzuki and bring up Barnes.

I think Benoit, for example, has walked 5 in 8 IP for us and given up 7 hits with 5Ks. If not for luck he would be tough to hide. You can hide someone in the pen in low leverage, but I don't think it's that easy when they are needed for key outs. Grilli came over here walking 6/9 but he has gotten that below 3 while he is K'ing 13. No need to hide.

Its pretty obvious that Benoit will cost us a couple of games, its unfortunate that Gibbons won't change his mind (about him being a high leverage reliever) until then. Edited by nmrch

Kyle Barraclough is the 13th most valuable reliever in baseball with a BB/9 over 6. Kimbrel, Ramos, Duke, Rodney & David Robertson are all high leverage guys with BB/9 over 4. I'm not saying it's amazing - I'm saying it's not uncommon for relievers to get away with poor command. It's easier to hide there (if you have a high K%).

Gibbers says 0.00 ERA!

He would just need his fastball and slider in the pen. It could work out.

Agreed, he should only be used in low leverage situations. I think he has been lucky so far and I don't have much confidence in him. I hope Feldman can replicate the form he showed against the Yankees.

How do the Indians have the second best hitting team in the AL

The Indians problems have never been hitting. Before this year it was bullpen/defense

#Bluejays roster move - Ryan Goins is up, Darrell Ceciliani goes down. That's interesting. #Jays

Please no DL stint for JD

well if he was that would of likely been the corresponding move and left Ceciini up and yes that is not how you spell his name but f*** you

Or maybe they just want another infielder? Barney can play LF so the Italian dude is redundant with Carrera, Upton & Saunders.
