Why? That's a legit point.

In my opinion not much has changed. The guy with final say just has a different title. That or I'm sick and f***ing tired of teamAA vs teamShatkins. As if that leads anywhere.

Lol. The best you can offer is a homophobic insult? Oh my feelings!

Yeah, it's early.

Maybe if you could've expanded on your point, past 'what a crock', you would have gotten a more detailed response. Also don't give me the team Shapiro vs team AA bs, cause I never mentioned anything about that in my OP.

I've seen a lot of changes, especially at the player development level. The draft was significantly different to those of years past. Time will tell if the shift from projectable HS pitchers to more polished hitters proves to be successful. They also slowed down a number of prospects, demoting them to start the season. I was a fan of that move.

I didn't want Anthopoulos to leave, but that doesn't mean I can't respect Shapiro's track record of success. The moves made so far are simply adjustments to a contending roster that haven't been good or bad as a whole. It will take a couple of seasons to really get a handle on whether their plan has worked or not. I like what they are saying so far, but we'll see what happens.

The poster you quoted is an AA/Gibbons fanboy. It was meant to not make sense.

Those still exist??

Sure, except he was only talking about autonomy. I have no issues with either guy. I think AA was learning a lot of lessons on the fly and was becoming a better GM as time went on. Shapiro has a track record of doing well with little and hope with more he can do more here.

What else is there to say? Autonomy was a buzz word for the media. And you didn't say it on your OP, but, you sure came back with in your reply didn't you? Even though I hadn't brought it up either.

After awful starts in April May that had many posters writing their epitaphs and wondering how we could dump their deals Tulo WAR now 2.2 and Martin has snuck up to 1.3. Some even said Col rooked us. Not their best seasons, but heading in the right direction. Both of them now look more like the $20mm per players we brought in.

The "Happy Martin is an Above Average Hitter Again Day thread" is coming soon.

What else is there to say? How about why me liking the approach Shapiro has taken is a load of crock? You've still managed to not answer that.

And for the record I've always stated that I appreciate what AA did here but that it was time to move forward.

4 years 85M

Is that enough to keep Edwin a Blue Jay?

I'd think so. You would think his agent would be asking for 5 years but if the Jays came out with that offer right away to get a deal done quickly i don't think he turns that down.

I think he's at 4 yrs $100M now.

Vmart was coming off a 167 wRC+ season a couple years ago and finished 2nd in the MVP voting and got 4/68. Even with inflation Edwin as a 1B/DH is not going to get 25 million a year for 4 years.

Edwin is not going to be anywhere close to 2nd in MVP votes.

I'm actually surprised Vmart was.

Right or wrong, if at the end of the season Edwin leads the league in HR's and RBI's he'll be in the MVP conversation. He'll likely be top 5 in wRC+ and has counting stats that will exceed Big Poopi's who everyone is slobbering over this year.

Not that I agree with it, but I think being first or second in home runs will give you more value than someone with similar numbers but half the home runs.

If there were another player with Votto's numbers and contract but a different passport, how much would we talk about him? (Hint: none)

LOL Votto had a 7.4 WAR 172 wRC+ and .427 wOBA last season. Yeah, 4-5 years from now he will likely be very overpaid, and that contract could be a nightmare. But don't say "a player with Votto's numbers" as if its a negative. He's an extremely valuable player right now

What a f***ing idiot.
