On top of our aging Tulo and Martin deals? No thanks. Reds would have to eat more than they would consider, and he would have to agree to come here which is improbable.

Since he's from Southern Ontario he has been asked about it occasionally over the years. The possibility of playing for the Jays. Every time he's somewhat forcefully said he likes where he is and doesn't want to play for Toronto.

That doesn't mean he doesn't want to play for the Blue Jays. He was also very vocal about the Raptors playoff run. And when he won MVP was upset the letter from the Prime Minister was "lost in the mail". He said if this was from Barrack Obama he would have recieved it the same day it was sent.

Hes played with the Reds his entire career and they are paying him a s*** load of money. It's natural to say you don't want to leave.

Its not even the money for me, its the term. If we could somehow get them to eat salary in a way that front loads the bulk of his money it would look attractive. But then I doubt you can get them to eat the $50-70 million it would take to make it look better.

Wow that's just bizarre, unless it's his brother or something.

Asked for Sanchez. MLB shop accidentally shipped him the only Bo Shultz jersey ever made.

A win would be nice tomorrow night. Too bad Dickey is pitching

I kinda like his chances against this new young Yankee lineup

It could just be his last name. I always liked players with the same last name as me (4 hall of famers).

I can't see Girardi playing most of the young guys against dickey. Knuckleball ball will screw them up.

Good point. Gotta wonder how many knuckleballers these guys have seen in the minors. Can't be very many.

Do the Jays not NEED to make a move for a catcher as we approach the waiver trade deadline? Can't imagine Dickey is on the hypothetical playoff roster which makes Thole redundant as the backup catcher. I don't think any team will benefit more from the expanded rosters in September than the Jays.

At this point in the season, what would we get from a new backup catcher? One or two extra hits? I can't see us getting an improvement defensively considering Thole's familiarity and already decent D.

Justin Smoak has a 94 wRC+

Why does it feel like he's been soooooo much worse than that??

And get who? Atkins mentioned AJ Jimenez being given a shot, they also have Lavarnway, Kratz and McGuire kicking around. All of whom are terrible with the bat like most back up catchers and good with the glove. Can't see them moving assets to acquire a C at this point.

Because he was slightly average early on in the season.

And all the homers and RBI he's hit have come in low leverage situations or blowouts.
