Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Seeing the RC packed almost every night is taking me back to last year and the early 90s. Shapiro has some tough decisions ahead and his MO isn't to sign a bunch of aging expensive FAs. But you have to think as a business they don't want to lose the momentum built in 2015 and so far this season. Coast to coast the Jays are killin it. Our little league enrollment in Calgary was up 30% this year and a lot of it is because of the Jays. The fans will come out if the team is WINNING. I want Shatkins to do what they think is best for the team, not what the fans want. Where would we be now if we had signed Price for 200 million? If Shatkins think letting Bautista and Eddy walk is the right move, then I back them 100%

Most of us would support not signing those two and taking the picks. Bautista and Edwin aren't the only 2 options available to keep them very competitive for business reasons.

I do think the payroll will be going up enough to support re-signing 1 of Edwin/Jose (Jose would likely cost much less at this point). I think simply re-signing 1 of Edwin/Jose and signing Josh Reddick would be great! We would already have Dickey/Jose or Edwin/etc salary coming off the books to help as it is. A couple shrewd moves to build back up the rotation depth and bullpen, and it would be a great off-season.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Shirts in medium or GTFO fatties They were XL, I threw mine in the trash, snapped a good photo though with the gropro, had to cut out some heads. http://i.imgur.com/WA4aATV.jpg
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 medium??? not all of us are hobbits Jonn Hobbits lol. I'm 6'2 180 pounds. I like fitted shirts. Its not the 90's. More people are under 6'0 than over. Why are we catering too fat people? If you're too fat to wear the shirt hang it in your closest and modivate yourself to one day fit into it. But honestly I'm joking. They should have various sizes. 10k of each. Medium, Large, and XL. That way everyone is happy.

I guess but I saw tall thin people and XL still came down past their waste by a lot it seemed. Kids wearing them were hilarious, looked like snuggies.

We already have enough idiots who throw out s*** that can be used by others. Its digusting.

A large doesn't even make it to my waist and an XL is sometimes too small even.

You obviously don't know very many thin people over 6 feet tall. Many of them wear XL or XXL. Every man in my family is at least that tall, so I have a pretty good idea.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Just saw Gibby talking about the squeeze play, he said that Carerra bunted on his own and had a 30 second explanation that kind of sounded like he would have preferred Carerra swinging away. I think we're gonna see less Carerra bunts with RISP now
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Bautista going on the DL might be good for his arm strength. I don't expect him to have his cannon again but if he is back in RF he might get some of his throwing ability recovered for the stretch run to the playoffs.

I think Carerra should stay in right and Bautista/EE split 1B/DH duties. Carerra>>>>>>Smoak in every way.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I would like to see less Carrerra playing. Compared to options like Lake and Smoak being in the lineup, I'll take Carrera all day everyday. He has great peripherals for where he's hitting as well, but you won't see many on here give him credit for it. 1.2 WAR in 178 PAs is pretty good.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I think Carerra should stay in right and Bautista/EE split 1B/DH duties. Carerra>>>>>>Smoak in every way. This is a really poor statement. Despite the impressive half season, let's not forget that Carrera (as well as Smoak) has been an entirely replacement level player his entire career. Could something have changed? Sure, walks are way up, strikeouts are reasonable, and he's made some good contact this year. However, his defense is at times atrocious - he takes absolutely terrible routes and are often preceded by bad reads off the bat - despite being fast, he's not a particularly elite baserunner, and while I'd love to be wrong he's more than likely not this good of a hitter. Is Smoak any better? No, not really, he has decent potential with the bat but has some of the biggest holes and easily exploitable flaws that I've seen in a Blue Jays hitter. He's only a 1B, a supposedly decent one at that - he is very sure handed - but still doesn't carry that much value. This is not me advocating for Bautista in RF - the guy is clearly done as an outfielder - or completely s***ing on Carrera who has done a great job holding down the fort but to say that the latter is that much preferable to Smoak when in reality they're both rather inconsequential players is a stretch. I put way too many hyphens in this post.

We're playing on fields I never knew existed cause there are so many more teams this year. T-ball is so much fun.

Sorry he had to go, but at least Shapiro isn't as bad as some of the other names rumored to replace him. 12 years from now we will see another wave of great Canadian ballplayers.

He had an entire off season to rehab his arm. His arm is shredded. He's done.

Yes, and a lot of these kids are heading off to see Jays games this year with their fams, and the 8-10 year olds on my kids team talk about the Jays scores and emulate the hitters all the time. We have the Honda Super Camp next week. Alomar, Devo et all will be here. I'm probably more excited than my son. I posted this back in May but here is a great news story on the "Blue Jays Bump" increasing enrollment 25-30% in LL. Thanks Governator, I had to photoshop and clone some people underneath the camera bay near the TD zone due to some massive head in the photo but it turned out decent.
