Let's do it

Bautista 4 years 85M

I do that in a heartbeat. It actually seems okay for both sides. I think as long as he is making > $20M, and > 3 years he goes for it.

and Edwin for compensation pick *Yo repare eso por ti*

I actually thought of adding exactly that after I posted

Yes, Edwin will probably have to leave for a QO comp pick if we sign Bautista

And that's exactly what I'd do

I agree.

You know what I would try to do first, is trade him to Boston for 2-3 solid prospects instead, though. Maybe 4. As painful as it would be. I get the strong sense EE would accept a trade to Boston. The only caveat, Boston has to get rid of Hanley first, which probably won't happen.

Yeah, Edwin makes soooooo much sense as a DH for Boston, BUT they are stuck with Hanley and Pablo who are such liabilities on the field

Damn those were terrible signings by the Red Sox. LOL

Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1:

#Bluejays got 2-yr deal done with Donaldson because 1. so close in exchange ($11.8M/$11.35M). 2. such key leader felt whatever savings (con)

might have won, not worth loss of goodwill. 3) did 2 yrs to skirt file-and-trial credo. 4) know ’16 salary to better figure approach (cont)

with Bautista/Encarnacion. 5. Think can win now, want to limit distractions. #Bluejays

Giving weapons to the enemy before starting the war?

That seems Stalin-Hitler again.

Good news, but I thought we had an extension, F U Herpderp!:P

lol. I thought same....then I thought it was 29 per AAV and spit my coffee out.

Deal seems a bit high this year and ok depending on how 2016 goes. I like the cost certainty so we can make JB/EE decisions with information, and it avoids what can be a scar leaving arb process. Ok with it.

Just a gut feeling but i think the higher year this year and lower next is more to try and help out with the Extensions of Bau and EE which would make sense.

f*** that, trade him to the Dodgers and give them a chance to sign him before Boston can.

That's exactly it. 1 more year of relatively cheap JB and EE. This helps them budget for 2017.

The more I think about this the more I like it actually

Nice deal. Leaves the Jays open for options in his final arb year, while giving the player the flexibility going into his final year before FA.

Well he even makes fun of himself

JD lighten up, bro

Still under club control for 2018 - all I care about.

Pretty much this. And it gives us flexibility in the short term with other players.

His reply was in the same spirit I'm guessing. IIRC, they are former A's teammates.

Does anyone know yet exactly how this breaks down over the 2 years e.g. 13m/16m?

Apologies if obvious question is obvious.

Yeah, they're just messing around.
