Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Could depends of the standing before trade deadline. I think something would have to go horribly wrong for us to not be in the playoffs. Boston probably snags the division but we are playing in that wild card game.

The only bad things were Travis and Saunders.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 also stroman missing almost the entire season. derp
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Also Stroman missing almost the entire season. Yeah that was pretty significant I would say.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 Also Stroman missing almost the entire season. -How many games will Tulo play? -Saunders is alive? -Pompey stick 2015? -Name just one guy who can throw over 180 IP no Dickey? -Which Happ we will see? -Is Colabello for real? -Could Pillar repeat his 2015 performance?

You could do this with almost every team minus the 180IP and most of those team's are asking "Who the hell is going to drive in runs?"

Governator Community Moderator Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 It is not automatic that we play in the playoffs. Games should be played. lol ? Futhermore: - Goins provides adequate mid infield depth for Tulo, especially when Travis returns. Also, JD is extremely durable at 3B which only helps our infield depth, unlike when we had Lawrie/Reyes/Izturis and forced to play AAA back up most games. - If Saunders sticks then we have some great speed off the bench as well in Pompey, I don't look at that as a negative - SP could become an obvious issue though I do like having more options there then we've had in past years - You can't mention Colabello without Smoak because combined they were a 30HR 100RBI combo - Pillar doesn't need to repeat, just be above average and stay on the field as he did last year

If the jays have just an average Pythagorean record in 2016, instead of the bottom-three-in-mlb 2015, that's an extra 8 to 10 wins right there.

There was alot that went wrong too. - Reyes was garbage - Colabello in the outfield - Travis missing 4 months - Bautista had to DH for a month - Edwin had a nagging injury - Stroman missed almost the whole season - Castro should not have been in the bullpen - Tulo missed 3 weeks and wasn't even his normal self (with the bat) - Saunders missed the whole season - Hutch was pretty ineffective - Sanchez made too many starts And we still fought for best record in the AL (and came very close)

Expectations for this team IMO should be low - 1st wild card.

crederer Verified Member Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Paay them both whatever the hell they want for 2 years. They wont be any good after that and neither will the rest of the team. 20 mil each for the next 2 years? Hell yea.
crederer Verified Member Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 "There's no way a player would play for anyone who pays them less" I was gunna make a big post about how stupid that comment is but i m tired and canned it.

Beltre is making less while putting up very comparable numbers.

Slugger Verified Member Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Zaun was saying that you simply give Jose a qualifying offer because it'll be "like a 2 or 3 million dollar raise." implying "what else does Jose want?" f***ing face palm.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 ^ Was just about to post this Best contract extension EVER
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) How much surplus value did Bautista give the Jays over that 5 year span? Edit: 26.2 WAR over those 5 years = ............. Ummmm, a LOT no matter whose $ per WAR you use Edited February 17, 2016 by G-Snarls
