Even with the emergence of EE and the arrivals of Donaldson, Martin and Tulo, this is still Bautista's team and it will be for as long as he's around.

Yes, exactly right

And I'd pay more to keep Bautista than Edwin, even though I love Edwin too

Yeah me too. Bautista is the face of the franchise and he does seems more consistent though I think the value they produce on the field ultimately averages out.

One of these things is not like the others...

I'm pretty sure he means the resolution. Of course any print shop will be willing to print a huge poster, but if the original photo doesn't have the resolution to support that size then it'll look hideous.

I think that one will look good 20x24. I'm somewhat familiar with print but by no means an expert.

he probably threw out whatever name was conveniently out there. He hung out with the latter two when he was doing that golf tournament so they were the first to come to mind.

Don't insult him

3/65 or 4/85 seems just about right

Bautista is better athlete than Big Papi and he knew it. He could sign 4/100M in the free agency..... Book it

Decent article by Cameron but I agree I think it will cost more than 75 Million. I also think he will produce higher than 8.5 WAR over the next 4 years. I'd be comfortable doing 4/85 and might stretch it to 5/100 if you have to.

I suspect Bautista will ask for 4 or 5 years at 22-25 Million per. I wonder if the Jays are open to deferring money like the Davis Contract.

I see a 5/120 if he hits the market

I highly doubt he gets anywhere near $120. It won't be easy finding a 5 year deal at the age of 36.

Did you see the Greinke, Price and Cespedes deals?

Better question is if Bautista would be open to it.

Thats true too. Pure speculation but I think he would be. He wants to maximize his earnings and also wants a big deal for the Union. If he defers some money he will still be signed to a large deal with the total value being high.

Felipe Alou brother

Felipe! What a manager and un humble human being.

Felipe was my favorite manager ever. He was doing wonders with the Expos.

I was an Expos fan before they moved to DC.

Said they'd love him to stay but money, right deal, etc

JimBowden asked him if they'd try to sell him on an Ortiz approach 1-2 years at a time with vesting options. He brushed off that idea.

OH oh... Sounds like 2 comp picks next year draft.

Getting either one to sign before they test the market seems like a pointless endeavor. These guys know they will be the cream of the free agent crop next year along with Cespedes and Gomez. They really have no incentive to stay for anything short of a fair market deal, and the Jays are probably reluctant to do that without seeing how 2016 goes first. Would have been nice if both players were like Halladay and didn't give a s*** about testing free agency, but that doesn't seem like reality.

I think he brushed it off simply because he knows they wouldn't even consider it.
