G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Does Brown have any chance of making the team? Thinking no...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Zeke is so crappy, in my opinion. I don't know much about Lake though. I know he's not much of a bat. How is he as a defender? He suxx in D, but run and big upside bat/pop
CHRIS Verified Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I really don't like this. Pompey is almost certainly better than Lake and Carrera, and a team's 4th OF gets almost full PT. If everyone is healthy: Pompey starts 1-2 games a week in LF and Saunders sits against tough lefties. Pompey starts 1-2 games a week in CF and Pillar gets a breather against top righties. Pompey starts 1-2 games a week in RF and Bautista moves to DH or 1B. And then you have pinch running/hitting duties, and more starts as guys get banged up. I really like this approach, especially with the uncertainty of where Bautista and Encarnacion are going to be next year. However it is this team got here, it's pretty much built to win now-ish, in that we probably have a better chance to win this season than next. Pompey is certainly better than Lake and Carrera, in just about any and every capacity. I think they should definitely try to find a way to work Pompey into all the roles you suggested at the major league level, in the interest of giving this team the best chance to win.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Does Brown have any chance of making the team? Thinking no... Surprised he signed with us, he is really low on the depth chart. He never would have got on this team as the 4th OF unless something bad happened
bronson44 Verified Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) They are not thrilled with Pompey's D and want him down in AAA working on his routes "Pompey will instead begin the year at Triple-A Buffalo to continue his development. Once there, the native of Mississauga will have to not only develop the bat but also show more consistency in the field, where Pompey has experienced a few issues this spring with poor routes to fly balls. "He's still a work in progress there," Gibbons admitted. "He has tremendous range out there, but it's something he has to keep working on. One thing, guys struggle with the bat in this game, I don't care how good they are, but the one thing that has to be a given is defence. You shouldn't have to worry about that. You might struggle at the plate, but you still go out there and make the plays. He's concentrating hard on that." http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article/166383488/jose-bautista-spring-debut-thursday-vs-yanks Edited March 7, 2016 by bronson44
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Saunders could totally hit 25 homers... If he plays 140 games. Which I don't think will happen.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I want Biagini to pan out. Rule 5 picks turning into assets are always nice.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Quick poll: if offered a chance to go to dinner with Barker and Wilner would you go or not? I wouldn't. I just couldn't.

Dinner with a smug, bloated, condescending gas-bag and a washed-up never-was who's allergic to analytics? How could anyone turn that down? I'd actually rather have sex with Barry Davis.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Jays now 5-1 (and without 2 huge bats) The starting pitching actually could turn out to be decent Saunders if he stays healthy really lengthens the lineup Bullpen is still the big question mark In any case I like what's going on so far
