Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Yup RIP. Oakland will pick him up and he will make an all-star team.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 ??? Voted off the island for giving up the most runs today. Really unfortunate
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) I was at the Twins/Rays game today. Notes includes: - Blake Snell looked really good. Fastball was 94-97. - Park finally stopped striking out long enough to hit a grand slam. - Arcia looked over matched by good fastballs. - Odorizzi struggled with his command. Nothing exciting really. Took my 5 year old though and he loved it. He even took over score keeping in the 5th inning...it was pretty cool to see him so into the game... Edited March 7, 2016 by Brownie19

And next generation one as well.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Can't I just be a baseball fan? Nope Jonn is policing this s***.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Can't I just be a baseball fan? When they rename it baseballmessageboard.com sure.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 What if he's a twins fan? Nobody likes the Twins.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I went to the Tigers/Marlins game today. My Notes: Barry Bonds is one hell of a skinny man.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 The Blue Jays’ list of out of options players includes Steve Delabar, A.J. Jimenez, Josh Thole, Junior Lake and Ezequiel Carrera.

Someone would claim AJ but he's proven to be a bust which is disappointing. Delabar and Lake who gives a f***. Probably should have non tendered Delabar but whatever. Thole needs to catch Dickey. Carrerra whatever. He won't play much anyway and Pompey needs everyday at-bats.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Delabar will get claimed 100%
flafson Verified Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Zeke and Thole are probably the only locks to make the team. Zeke is a lock? I doubt it, he kinda sucks. I'm surprised Jimenez is out of options, don't think he ever played on the MLB team.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Jays can DFA Thole, he will accept the assignment because Dickey; with that Jays could see is AJ have something.

Tampa technically has 2 knuckleballers in their system now - maybe Thole will try to use that as leverage for a raise!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 If Saunders is healthy and starts in LF, then I think Lake probably gets the 4th OF spot for platoon reasons. Not like Zeke's defense in CF is any good either.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 No next game on TV is Friday. If Saunders is healthy and starts in LF, then I think Lake probably gets the 4th OF spot for platoon reasons. Not like Zeke's defense in CF is any good either. Pompey goes another year in 3A?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Pompey goes another year in 3A? management has already said that they want full time AB for him and not as a bench player.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) management has already said that they want full time AB for him and not as a bench player. Pompey AAA to start the year Called up any time any of Saunders Bautista or Pillar gets hurt - and to play, not sit on the bench. Edited March 7, 2016 by G-Snarls
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Pompey AAA to start the year Called up any time any of Saunders Bautista or Pillar gets hurt - and to play, not sit on the bench. I could see Gibbons playing Carrera/Lake over Pompey
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Pompey goes another year in 3A? I get the sense they will give Saunders the shot while Dalton keeps warm in Buff. When Saunders get injured he will come up. Zeke is a pretty much useless option on O and D. Cheap replacement level filler I guess to fill a temporary gap.

Zeke is a pretty much useless option on O and D. Cheap replacement level filler I guess to fill a temporary gap. I really don't like this. Pompey is almost certainly better than Lake and Carrera, and a team's 4th OF gets almost full PT. If everyone is healthy: Pompey starts 1-2 games a week in LF and Saunders sits against tough lefties. Pompey starts 1-2 games a week in CF and Pillar gets a breather against top righties. Pompey starts 1-2 games a week in RF and Bautista moves to DH or 1B. And then you have pinch running/hitting duties, and more starts as guys get banged up.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I could see Gibbons playing Carrera/Lake over Pompey Which is totally the wrong thing to do IYAM (presuming Pompey is playing well enough in AAA to deserve play time in the bigs)
fireballW Verified Member Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I'd think guys here would love this type of move with how much they are often concerned about service time. How many extra wins would Pompey be likely to add as the 4th OFer in the first couple months of the season? Keep him down playing full time until we need him, as long as we have reasonable other options. Could give us another season of Pompey's in his late 20s.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
