43211234 Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Dunno how you can say that when most of the voters don't use all of them. Well maybe it wasn't the ten player rule but I was surprised at how few votes he got nonetheless.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Griffey had 74 WAR in his first 12 seasons at the age of 31. HOF just isn't about career WAR. And Bagwell had 72.9 WAR in his first 12 seasons. What on earth is your point?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Well maybe it wasn't the ten player rule but I was surprised at how few votes he got nonetheless. I've learned to not be surprised about anything. A mediocre candidate in Jack Morris lasted his entire eligibility period on the ballot; Kevin Brown didn't get past the first. Their process is all kinds of f***ed. Seems like they are content to keep it that way, though.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 And Bagwell had 72.9 WAR in his first 12 seasons. What on earth is your point? It's best for your health to ignore everything this guy posts.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I thought Jim Edmonds would get more votes. A victim of the ten player limit I guess. Could just be stupidity. Edmonds was a beauty. HOFer in my books
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 And Bagwell had 72.9 WAR in his first 12 seasons. What on earth is your point? Its as much about peak performance than longevity.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Do we think Halladay will get in on the first ballot?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Its as much about peak performance than longevity. Ok....and they both were amazing for thier first 12 years....Griffey gets most votes of all time and Bagwell still isn't in. Stupid.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Do we think Halladay will get in on the first ballot? I'll say no. Unfortunately.
43211234 Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Do we think Halladay will get in on the first ballot? Definitely not I'd say. I think he gets in though.
Molitor Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 You're definitely a first-ballot HOFer when you're featured in the best baseball game of the 90's: http://s.emuparadise.org/Super%20Nintendo/Titles/Ken%20Griffey%20Jr.%20Presents%20Major%20League%20Baseball%20(U).png
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Tuck your shirt in, junior.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 And Bagwell had 72.9 WAR in his first 12 seasons. What on earth is your point? And Bonds had slightly less than Bagwell in his first 12. I trolled earlier. Even if you discount Bonds ridiculous and drug fuelled age 36 to 40 peak (averaging over 10 WAR per year at those ages lol), he is a HOF'er. Without the drug aided age 36 to 40 seasons though, Bonds is definitely not a best ever candidate.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I remember playing this. Good times. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/nintendo/images/1/15/MLBKenGriffey.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090428165645&path-prefix=en

I still remember all the players who had a 10 batting rating. Tony Gwynn had to play second base
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 As a fan, I use to enjoy the HOF vote. A nice break in winter half way between the World Series being over and Spring Training beginning. Interesting to see who got in versus who was left out and why. Now it's just become increasingly more idiotic and less relevant each year it's not even worth paying attention to. I totally forgot about the vote this year until I saw this thread. I see that only two guys got in, one of them being Piazza with the other being obviously Griffey. That's all I need to know that the vote is still at the height of its stupidity. There's nothing more I can add, it's already been covered by previous posts. Just a very, very stupid process and it's taken one of baseball's time-honoured traditions and turned it into a joke and a place where people can snub deserving players for political/ethical stances.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Do we think Halladay will get in on the first ballot? 3rd year at best. He's got Mariano on his first ballot and Jeter on his second.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Basewars ftw So awesome - although I don't remember having to fight in every tag play
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 well says a lot about HOF voting when folks rather reminisce about e-baseball
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I thought Jim Edmonds would get more votes. A victim of the ten player limit I guess. BBWAA had that introduced to keep guys like Bonds, Clemens, etc, etc... out of the Hall, sad really. Edit: Oh s***, I thought you meant the new 10 year limit, anyhow my point still stands. A bunch of old tards scared of analytics and new members changing their archaic reasons/limitations.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Surely you don't want to rob Jeff Blair of his vote!!!!! Blair believes guys like Bonds, Rose, Clemens etc, should be in the Hall, one of the few times I agree with him.
wamco Verified Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 A lot of people should lose their voting rights but never do. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who hasn't used all ten spots the past few years should lose their vote but that's well over half of the entire pool. _actually over half used all ten spots last year.....
wamco Verified Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Dunno how you can say that when most of the voters don't use all of them. - still going with this lie I see. Nice
wamco Verified Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Could just be stupidity. Edmonds was a beauty. HOFer in my books I love Edmonds but hof ability but not hof career. Wanted him and Carlos on ballot longer
