Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 http://bbwaa.com/ Griffey and Piazza voted in. McGwire and Tramell off the list. Looks like Hoffman, Bagwell and Raines could get in next year.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Bonds has over twice as much WAR as Griffey. Griffey is essentially unanimous while Bonds doesn't even get 50%.
43211234 Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The bbwaa need to take those who voted for Eckstein back behind the shed and shoot them.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 How funny is it going to be when Edgar Martinez falls off the list and then David Ortiz (the guy who usually wins "the Edgar Martinez Award") gets in on his second try? Funny? Sad? Not funny at all? HOF voting just makes me sad more than anything. I wish it didn't have the power it does so we could all appreciate the greats without approval from a bunch of cynical, clueless old farts whom the game passed by decades ago. E: oh yeah, and Piazza was totally clean, right? Any justification to leave out Bonds. f***ing mouthbreathers.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 On the bright side in 10-15 years most of these bad voters won't have a vote anymore.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Who are the three clowns who didn't vote for Griffey
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Who are the three clowns who didn't vote for Griffey Probably strategic voters trying to get some other guys in. Can't imagine any not voting for Griffey, unless they have idiotic chips on their shoulders about how if x didn't get in on first ballot then neither should y.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Aren't the voters suppose to be identified now?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Aren't the voters suppose to be identified now? Yeah weird. There's already a witch hunt gathering for the two idiots who voted for David Eckstein. There was even a MLB.com article about a case for Eckstein and it was basically just a long joke. And two people voted for a guy with no legitimate case for the hall of fame. They probably left off Bonds too.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The bbwaa need to take those who voted for Eckstein back behind the shed and shoot them. Add the guys who voted for Garrett Anderson, Jason Kendall and Mike Sweeney...
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 baseball HOF is a joke. voting system has always been polluted by idiots who know nothing about baseball and fabricated hate. baseball in general actually. 2 of the best players might never be voted in because the league hates them. Bonds and Rose should be in(period) Ty Cobb, who was one of the biggest *******s ever to play the game, got in because he was a great player and the fact that he was a douche doesn't matter, yet they have no forgiveness for Rose and utter disdain for bonds. the HOF's self righteous, pious attitude is embarrassing baseball and most fans think it's a complete joke. if they are not going to honor the BEST players then they might as well just stop admitting players.

Can't imagine any not voting for Griffey, unless they have idiotic chips on their shoulders about how if x didn't get in on first ballot then neither should y. ^this....I would suspect they are using Griffeys vote to give support to guys like Edgar, Big Mac, Walker, Wagner (who's as good as Hoffman), etc. the stupidity is in the rules set (max 10 picks), not the voter...
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I don't get it...if you're going to vote Piazza in - how do you not vote Bagwell in? Bags was far superior...he needs to get in.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Bagwell is one of the best hitters of the modern era. And, more importantly, my favourite player of all-time. He needs to be in.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Bagwell is one of the best hitters of the modern era. And, more importantly, my favourite player of all-time. He needs to be in. I still love emulating his unique swing...a beauty
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 When is Doc on the ballet? He just lite up Twitter saying Bonds and Clemens shouldn't get in...
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Bagwell is one of the best hitters of the modern era. And, more importantly, my favourite player of all-time. He needs to be in. He falls into the Piazza category for suspicion. So probably more chance now with that precedent being set, if there is such a thing with this farce of a process.

You honestly think pro athletes today aren't abusing PED'S? There's so much free info on how to beat drug tests, never mind actually paying someone to walk you through it

There's so much free info on how to beat drug tests, never mind actually paying someone to walk you through it I never said that at all. It was a specific answer to the comment I was replying to. Yes, I believe a great number of athletes today use PEDs.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Griffey gets the most votes of alltime - Bagwell had more WAR....I never would have guessed that...
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Bagwell is one of the best hitters of the modern era. And, more importantly, my favourite player of all-time. He needs to be in. Yeah plus he was a great bodybuilder tooo. I love how he put on 25 lbs of pure muscle that one offseason. No PEDs there

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 So much incoherence.... If you more or less admitted to PED use in testimony (McGwire, Bonds) you're out. If you're record is clean but you're strongly suspected you might get in (Piazza) or you might not (Bagwell). You can't even tell what kind of line they are trying to draw.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Yeah I'm not sure why so many people are outraged that three people didn't vote for Griffey. Should be more outrage over the hundred who won't vote for Bonds due to self righteous dumbf***ery.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 The difference between now and then is that there's an incentive to stay clean now. It's a very, very small incentive but knowing that there's a chance, even a very small one, that you might get caught (more likely through an investigation than a test) is enough to makes a difference in a player who is on the fence about using in the first place whereas before there was just no incentive whatsoever to play clean, at least none from within the game. That makes a difference but it's probably only the difference between nearly universal then use and rampant use now.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Yeah I'm not sure why so many people are outraged that three people didn't vote for Griffey. Should be more outrage over the hundred who won't vote for Bonds due to self righteous dumbf***ery. Even ignoring Bonds it's pretty stupid to expect a perfect ballot when it's literally never happened ever.
