Governator Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I guess I can live with it. Kind of disappointing but I have nothing against Happ and he's improved since moving on. I hope we get the expected value of 2 fwar/season from him, though I have doubts.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 No way AA would sign any overpriced FA either. AA would rather trade the farm for the starter anyway.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Not having David price isn't going to kill this team. They may not win as many games but they will be in the hunt. I know. But not having a solid #2 replacing Price might be the difference between making the Wild Card game and not making it.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 So someone put a gun to rogers board of advisers and demand a 180 million dollar payroll. No being reasonable
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Price isn't going to hold up long-term.. as a power pitcher, he's going to decline soon.. whoever gives him a multi-year dealer is going to have serious buyer's remorse between next year to two years down the road. See Verlander--we all know how that turned out.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 So someone put a gun to rogers board of advisers and demand a 180 million dollar payroll. No being reasonable That would take us over the tax--benefits are about $11-12M. We can't do that.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 It feels like the fans would be happier if they'd traded Edwin for Strasburg or something.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I know. But not having a solid #2 replacing Price might be the difference between making the Wild Card game and not making it. And Price could be the difference between being decent in 2020 or a dumpster fire.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 To go along with what may be the worst rotation 1-5 in all of baseball. You don't follow much baseball, do you?
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Alright, here is the numbers of the 2015 Blue Jays starters including the Price acquisition at the deadline. http://i67.tinypic.com/k0k4tx.jpg With the additions of Chavez and Happ the projections for the 2016 are as follows. http://i63.tinypic.com/23jfghi.jpg

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 How accurate are steamer projections
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 welcome back I've been so careful not to write that too. I'm still torn...I love those Rays but I'd also love for some sustained success in Toronto under a GM that I don't consider to be a complete *******.
Governator Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I know. But not having a solid #2 replacing Price might be the difference between making the Wild Card game and not making it. Stroman is basically Price's replacement considering he made like 4 starts... Look, we have Chavez over Hutch, Happ over Sanchez and Estrada over Buehrle to start the season. This is a better rotation than whatever mashup last April was.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 How accurate are steamer projections lol not the best. They give a very nice picture and are useful but anyone with half a brain can adjust them if they put some effort in.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 No you're right, on April 1st 2015, we had a weak rotation too. Which continued to be weak until Price showed up halfway through the season. So you believe that pitchers make other pitchers better?
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I know. But not having a solid #2 replacing Price might be the difference between making the Wild Card game and not making it. Again, it's November 27! Hold your f***ing horses.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I know. But not having a solid #2 replacing Price might be the difference between making the Wild Card game and not making it. so they can't add another pitcher at the deadline?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 To go along with what may be the worst rotation 1-5 in all of baseball. This is possible the worst post I've read since joining this board...
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 My IQ has lowered significantly after reading this thread.

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Stupid f***ing trade Yes it would be
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 My IQ has lowered significantly after reading this thread. On a positive note, someday you'll learn that sex will do exactly the same thing. We'll come back to this thread in 15 years

baubau Verified Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I guess Osuna is officially a reliever. Don't like that Also means Sanchez is a reliever. Love that! Hope he is traded..
rydermike Verified Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 What surprises me about the signing is that Happ came back. I always thought Happ was not pleased with being sent to AAA back at the beginning of 2014 and had a bit of resentment, that was partially why they were willing to trade him, a starter, for Saunders. Guess that was all in my head. He must have really enjoyed it here, since he was willing to come back, even after being dealt less than a year ago. I'm content with Stroman-Estrada-Dickey-Happ-Chavez (6 Hutchinson). Not ecstatic, not hugely disappointed. So now just to fill the bullpen. Osuna-Cecil-Sanchez-Loup-________-________-__________ (Depth: Shultz,Tepara,Delabar). Do we have enough left in the budget for Lowe to come back? Maybe a Rule 5 pickup or two

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 The Jays won 93 games in 2015 when they had 143 starts made by Dickey, Buehrle, Estrada, Sanchez, Hutchison, Norris, Doubront, Copeland, Redmond, and Boyd. Need 5 aces to win, guyz.
