You would think offensive performance would be easier to measure and grade and that they wouldn't f*** these up like they do the gold gloves. Edited November 13, 2015 by KingKat
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Edwin wins OBP, SLG, wOBA, wRC+, HR, R, RBI, SB Morales wins AVG This is one of the most egregious votes in recent memory. Not justifiable via traditional or saber stats.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Chris Davis got robbed. Bogaerts over Correa is also laughable. At least they got the NL right.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I don't see any way they can justify giving this to Morales over EE, unless EE qualified as a 1st baseman, and not as a DH.

Are these voted on after the playoffs? I'd love to hear someone try to justify Morales over Edwin. I can't think of anything that would be even remotely defensible.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The collective circle jerk over the Royals is really baffling. Is it not enough to celebrate their team accomplishments without overstating the individual guys' contributions? I swear these writers have watched too many underdog sports movies.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 "voted on by Major League managers and coaches" Well I guess that explains the problem.

I've seen a lot of people saying Edwin got robbed, but I'd also like to point out that Bautista's numbers are better across the board than J.D. Martinez, who he topped in wOBA, HR, R, and RBI. It appears that avrige is alive and well among the voters.

Plus, a lot of the voters probably just don't like Jose.

Makes sense, since a single is as good as a home run and all.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Some voters obviously considering Edwin a first baseman, splitting his vote. It doesn't really matter. Nobody who matters actually believes Morales is or was the better hitter. Despite not playing a full season, Miguel Cabrera still managed to best Davis and Edwin at RE24. He's the best offensive first baseman in the league and played like it in 2015. Wanna trade for him in DDL?

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 top 6 in AL for wRC+ were Trout, Cabrerra, Cruz, Donaldson, EE then joey bats if they classified Cruz at RF then EE was a DH and he got screwed big time by stats. He killed Morales on everthing. JB also got screwed, his numbers were far more impressive than Martinez (except BA, but JB was considerably better OBP) games played by postion Nelson Cruz - 80 RF, 72 DH 158wRC+ EE - 59 1B, 87 DH 150WRC+ morales - 9 1B, 140 DH 131 wRC+ Martinez 148 RF 137 wRC+ Joey Bats 118 RF, 35DH 147 wRC+
