sure....and no travis, no tulo, no donaldson and where would we be...quit crying over spilled milk and don't ignore deals that have worked out. The Jays stole Bautista, Encarnacion, Donaldson and travis and lost on Thor and TDA...we hit the draft lottery with Stroman and the same with Osuna in the international signing pool. This team in the next few years will make some trades and signings that absolutely will not work out and will make some deals and signings that will end up looking fantastic....that's baseball.

Except everyone and his dog knew the Dickey trade was terribad the moment it was announced. Have never seen such a lopsided trade in 40 years of following baseball.

Weird since the Donaldson trade literally happened this year. Graveman, Nolin look barely above replacement level and Lawrie had an awful season. Even if he turns it around he's a FA in 2 years.

There is a third camp that thinks Goins is an acceptable back up MIF. He doesn't have to be something or not.

I had said "if the Jays sign Penny/Barney" :P If you are in that camp that thinks he's a acceptable backup MIF, those two should fallow in that category. I just like to sell high.

He's a better defender than both Pennington and Barney, and I don't know if either of them can play SS moving forward.

Barely. Going off defensive projections alone, they all provide near the same defensive value. If you feel that Goins can hit more than them, sure he can provide more, but defensively you're not going to squeak out more value from one than the other in that list.

Goins is much better defensively than Pennington. Defensive projections aren't very accurate...

How about history? Before this, each of the past 3 seasons and 4 out of the past 5 he has had better defensive years than Goins.

We are splitting hairs on backup MIF. If the Jays can sign one of Penny/Barney, I expect Goins to be traded. If they don't, I don't expect Goins to be traded. I am not advocating it, just setting my expectations accordingly between players who shouldn't be the main position players on a roster and selling high on a guy. -_-''

Pennington is at an age where middle IF defense really starts to decline so I think that would have to be factored in. Don't want to go all "eye test" but Goins just looked so much better with the glove this year than Pennington.

But you didn't say that.

There are two camps with Goins. One camp that believes he can be something and another camp that doesn't.

I just like to sell high.

I assume you're fully on board with shipping out Donaldson, right? This will most likely be a career year for him.

Go back and read my first post again bud. No edits. If I did you'd see the notice on it that it was.

Yes, let's trade away a player who has consistently put up 6+ war seasons. Because that situation is oh so similar to selling a backup MIF (whom I mentioned two replacements) that posted 1.5 war and the player that he replaced put up 2.2. Yes. Very similar concepts.

Whatever happens next season..it will kinda suck as a fan knowing that these bunch of guys might not all be back.

These guys look liked they really liked playing with each other and had great chemistry. We as fans also got to know them pretty well in the 4 month run.

But its all about bringing home the chip. In AA I trust

First, I give AA a long-term, lucrative offer. He's a top 5 GM for me. Speaks French, loves it here, etc. And his best days are in front of him.

Gibbons, geez. I don't know. I'll let you guys decide that one.

I would like the Jays to go after Price and Zimmerman. Those two, with Osuna Dickey and Stroman, make up a great rotation for me. But I would be happy with Shark over Zimmerman. I'd offer either Shark and Zimmerman decent 6-year deals to get 'er done. And not to be captain obvious, but going after one decent lefty for the bullpen would be great. Re-sign Cecil please. Hire Hawkins to be the bullpen coach or something.

I do not trade Sanchez. No way.

I like Revere, seems like a great guy, all heart, loved by teammates, etc. But he's redundant. Pompey for me has more ceiling so he's my everyday LF. I would not sell high on Pillar, in that I do not think we've seen his ceiling. Bautista will come back stronger than ever in RF because (1) it's his contract year, and (2) he's very proud, and was probably a little embarrassed how he looked compared with the speed demons to his right.

I pick up Dickey's option. But no Thole. Jiminez is my backup C for next year.

And to make the lineup more of an arcade game lineup, and if Rogers feels they've made a s*** ton of money, throw some at Upton, Cespedes or Heywood on a big deal. And then trade one of Pillar or Pompey. Or not. I dunno. But I think that either EE or JB, or both, walk after 2016, so whoever is signed here will effectively replace his bat in the lineup come 2017.

Pillar had a WAR over 3... He's your everyday CF

And his hitting will improve. And he's cheap, letting the FO spend on other players. Yeah, he stays for shizzle.

Focus should be adding pitching and depth. Our bench was absolute balls in the playoffs outside of Pompey who did his job and doesn't belong on the bench. With Travis back Goins can move back into his backup infielder role. Non tender Saunders 100% and offer him a minor league deal + incentives. If we can upgrade atleast one of the corner outfield spots with Bautista moving to 1B that would be ideal.

Should be an interesting off-season but pretty much our entire lineup is coming back + Travis so that's postive. Would be nice to add a lefty bat to break up the righties as well. Pickup a backup catcher committed too framing. We just need to polish things off we are probably a 90+ team next year if we just fix the things that shouldn't be hard to fix.

Trade for/sign a good 4th OF (Jarrod Dyson? Have the Royals soured on him?) and put Pompey in LF full-time. Non-tender Saunders and bring him back on a minor league deal. Trade Revere.

The pitching is what scares me. I don't want the Jays to re-sign Price or anyone similar. Rogers has a tendency to drop payroll depending on which direction the wind is heading in a particular season so don't want to get saddled with too many big ass contracts and then have to try dumping them a few years later. Go on the mid-tier FA market or more trades. With this offense all they really need is a bunch of innings eaters, and then hope Stroman remains the front of the rotation starter and Hutchison bounces back.

Turning Osuna into a reliever still pisses me off, even though he was good this year. It's going to be nearly impossible to get any value out of him as a starter in 2016 unless they don't care about his innings. They'll have to move him back to the pen after 100 IP as a starter, maybe less depending on how his arm feels. What a waste.

Oh how I wish they had D'Arnaud instead of Martin. Probably the most disappointed I have been in a Jays player in a long time. Terrible game calling, subpar defense, and his bat was ice cold in the playoffs.

is this serious?

I don't think it's a terrible idea to use Pompey and one of Revere/Saunders as the 3rd and 4th OF next year.

I wasn't for taking Osuna north either, but how many innings do you think he would've pitched in the minors this year and how many would you project him to throw next year?

They definitely need to get into the FA market and get 2 starters. Big decision on Dickey as well.

Any thoughts on Saunders?

AA has hinted that he'll be back a couple of different times, but I'm not sure what kind of deal it would be. Stating the obvious, but I think a healthy Saunders is worthy of a roster spot. We just have to leave the decision up to the medical staff.

Pompey LF, revere 4th if he's still here for me.

Im not paying a 4th OF 7 million dollars. If it were me I would sign Saunders for 2-3 Million to be LF and have Pompey start in Buffalo for depth knowing there is a very good chance he will come up because of injury. As much as Revere seems like a likeable guy there are better options especially for that price.

Ben Revere sounds like he has an IQ of 75 when he talks........i wouldnt be sad if AA dealt him, not for that reason alone, but Pompey for sure needs a real chance to play everyday

He's absolutely right about everything and was very genuine. I'm not sure how you don't like him.

Pillar is my starting c.f. next year, pompey 4th

Pillar will give you 2 war next year on a cheap contract, no way he's on the bench over Pompey and Revere. He's proven he's valuable
