Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Bad weather tomorrow...delaying the game not a bad thing for the Jays. A lengthy delay after the game starts not good for the Jays. If there were a 2 hour delay after the say 2nd inning. Who do you bring out? Dickey? I think I'd go with Stroman. You could give Price the ball again for a short start in game 7 and probably get a couple of innings from Estrada on his throw day if needed.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 If they know its going to rain a lot where its unplayable, wouldn't you say they'd just push the games back a day if there is a clear forecast for Saturday and Sunday night? When Manfred was interviewed in Toronto talking about the roof and how they want the conditions to be the most ideal they can be for postseason games, wouldn't that fall into a similar scenario tomorrow if they get weather reports that its going to pour down like an hour after first pitch with a delay of up to 2-3 hours? I'd like to think yes. But Friday night scheduled game (with nothing else on) vs. competing with the NFL on Sunday. I'm betting they do everything they can to get it in tomorrow.

From the sounds of it and what other posters just mentioned, the rain is supposed to stop around 4PM and the rest of the night should be clear just with overcast.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I'll take those odds! That's a virtual coin flip in both games. I like our chances better than that with Price and Stroman. We haven't had trouble with Ventura or Cueto either.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Fangraphs Playoff Odds now have us with a 25.5% chance of advancing. Thanks. I think they win Game 6 and we have a very good shot in Game 7. Still feel we will win this series. Trying to be philosophical about it. Even if we lost Fri night this team will have given us 11 of a possible maximum 19 playoff games and a ton of excitement and some great ball. No matter how it ends now, 2015 is a success.

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Fangraphs Playoff Odds now have us with a 25.5% chance of advancing. How are they arriving at those numbers? I think with a basic WAR model you end up with around a 55% chance of winning tomorrow, and probably about a coin flip in game 7 leading to a 27.5% chance of winning the series. They probably made some adjustments as all good gamblers do

That makes sense. I want us to win sooooo badly. I still think we will. KC was red hot since Game 4 against the Astros, and I think Marco cooled them. It was bound to turn. Escobar isn't a .500 hitter FFS.

I haven't been able to function all day and I assume tomorrow I'll be the same way. KC has shown they can go into some serious cold streaks at the plate throughout the year, so hopefully they do that now. As long as we don't let them string 4-5 hits together in a row we'll be okay.

But also being a realist, Ventura has the ability to dominate when he is on, and of course Cueto too. Let's hope Ventura is a bit erratic and Price can come up big first.

Like BC said, this has been a heck of a season. How they fought and battled in Gm 5. Estrada giving us a shot. Whereever he'll be next year, I won't forget that gutsy performance. A champion can still go down but they go down swinging. Either way I am very proud to call myself a fan!

I will be incapacitated from about 3pm on today. If we lose my girlfriend and ex both joke (sort of) that they will put me on suicide watch. It will take me days to process. But we are going to win these games so it's allll good. Playoffs game 11 tonight. Bring it on.

In the end they are bound to regress to the mean, they weren't going to continue their hitting ways forever, every team is subject to law of averages eventually. I'm pretty confident that trend will continue but hopefully it hasn't come too late for us to get back into the series to win it. I'm pretty confident both Price and Stroman will pitch well enough to keep us well into these next two (well, hopefully two) ballgames, IMO it'll be more down to us preventing any mistakes on defence (so that we don't give up those easy runs to them) and how we hit. Defence is especially important IMO, since I think they've literally managed to take advantage of every single one of our errors throughout this series.
