Posts about players being impacted are not moderated. Posts about the vaccines and the soundness of the decision to get/not get one are moderated. If they weren't, every thread where the issue came up would be derailed by arguments about vaccines. Those arguments would lead to partisan red vs. blue political arguments, and those arguments would lead to grudges that would play out in every thread on the forum. Most people on this baseball forum actually just want to read/post about baseball, not endlessly rehashed political flame wars,.

Precisely

How would I if they get deleted? What is the line exactly because it seems to only exist if you aren’t pro vaccine. How are people supposed to know anything without reference. Deleting the posts is pointless because it will just keep happening everytime it comes up. What you do is address it directly.

As someone who can (and does) read deleted posts, this is false. There are basically equal deletions of pro and anti vaccine comments. Our goal is not to silence one side, it's to keep discussions baseball related. I've deleted posts with which I have agreed, and the other mods presumably have as well, because they were likely to derail threads. Hell, other mods have deleted posts that I have made that were (arguably) over the line.

I try to moderate as little as possible, because I enjoy a healthy debate and love when the board is active, but history has shown that you vile f***s cannot be trusted 100% of the time! ;)

Fair enough. I am just looking forward to a time where we don't even have to talk about it anymore.

But while I got your guys attention. How do we feel about getting a true dark mode for the forum? We have one thats like a little but nicer on the eyes but it would sick if just got a full on dark mode to save my retinas. I could pay for it if its pricey.

I don’t know if they are something but palmegianni and barger keep mashing at high A and double A respectively.

I’ll be interested if barger can maintain his walk rate and strikeout rate, both career bests in limited at bats at double A. And interested if palmegianni makes double A this year.

That's really Ju1ced's department, I don't use dark mode, so I'm not impacted by that, but if it's easier on the users I'd be willing to explore it. I simply don't have enough access to the forum settings to even begin to look into that :P

Wow - that write up on Kasevich is sexy....

Kasevich’s batted-ball data and swing-decision metrics are better than almost every college bat in this class, but his bat path has limited his upside. It’s a similar narrative to Jordan Westburg in 2020. Sure feels like Toronto can unlock more game power and turn Kasevich into a potential average defensive shortstop or above average third baseman with 25-homer upside. He’s a ways away from that profile right now. Still, the floor right now could be a .270 hitter with a sub 20-percent K-rate.

I will admit I didn't have time to really research this draft. Brandon Barriera was ranked high and I like what I've read about him, but HS pitchers are really risky. This write up on Drew Gilbert sounds like a player with big upside who would have filled a big hole in this organization. Wonder if we'll regret passing on him.

The Astros develop talent better than just about every organization in baseball and Gilbert is a premium talent. It’s plus raw power that he’s not quite tapping into yet. He will. Gilbert is an above average runner with plus instincts on the field, though his impact on the bases were thwarted a bit due to a balky hamstring this spring. He adds stellar defense in centerfield and a big throwing arm too. This is better pure ability than Miles Straw and Chas McCormick. Gilbert will play in All-Star games.

Can we give up on Nate Pearson yet?

Help me understand this. Do you mean can we stop listing him as a prospect or talking about him as someone who could help the team at some point? Or like you want him cut from the team? I can understand fan's frustrations that they expected this Top 10 prospect to be contributing by now and the multitude of injuries is hard to watch, but he's only 25. There's obviously not reason to give up on him.

Why? Is having hope in him taking too much out of you?

I mean... You can give up on him if you want, but I don't understand why it's a 'we'. It's not a group activity.

I think you can give up on Pearson ever being a starter (hopefully the team has given up on that too). But if he's healthy, there is a potential high leverage relief arm with velocity in there, and that is exactly what the Jays need. It may not happen this season but make him a RP full time next Spring and hope for the best.

Why doesn't Palmegianni get any love?

Not sure when that update happened but the sample size on Palmegiani is still fairly small for a later round 22 year old in A/A+. Everyone you bolded either has more pedigree, done it longer, younger, or at a higher level, everyone except Frasso has multiple of those things in their favour. He's an interesting guy to follow, and if he keeps it up into next year he'll rise pretty quickly. It just takes a little bigger sample usually for guys that that to get moved up. Right or wrong.

That's fair I guess. And for clarification, I just quoted the original BA list that someone posted. I left the bolds in from that original post.

I know he's a bit old for A/A+, but we just drafted him last year and all he's done is hit the cover off the ball since drafted.

Didn't realize that thanks. I could definitely see him in the bottom third somewhere, and I'm for sure intrigued. Just think usually takes more of a sample from that type of player to get noticed, even with it being all positive since being drafted.

If he keeps it up this time next year he might be top 10.

Oh wow no

they jumped him over Corbin Carroll and Grayson Rodriguez.

Greene and Rutschman graduated.

Moreno was #5 last month.

Makes sense. Carroll continues to absolutely destroy baseballs with big power and a great eye while Moreno showed off his pool noodle bat at the ML level.

I think it makes sense. The hit tool is absurd and he has a great eye to boot. When he learns to lay off pitches that he can't really do damage on (he still pokes those for duck fart singles), the power will come.

First he'll get the power, then he'll get the money, then he'll get the women.

I hope you're right. 13 XBH's in 238 PA's is f***ing gross. Is there a comp or someone who we've seen develop in a similar manner over the past 5-10 years? Someone with a sub .100 ISO in AAA who actually becomes a stud hitter at the ML level?

Jose Ramirez had a .077 ISO in 533 AA PAs

Then ISOs barely over 100 in AAA and MLB for a couple years

If you wanna say he has no power over a small sample like that then can we talk about his power numbers in AA last year before he broke his thumb where he had 18 XBH in 126 ABs? He just needs to get that stroke back. Theres plenty of power here.

That's a really good one. Was Ramirez ever considered a top prospect?

Moreno has shown power in the past, but it really hasn't re-emerged since the broken thumb of last year. Hopefully it's just a matter of rebuilding strength over time, but it's been over a full calendar year now and he's still primarily a singles hitter since the injury.

Jose Altuve didn't hit for any power in the major for like 4 years

Lindor I don't think hit for much MiLB power

It's not that hard actually to find elite players who didn't show pop until MLB or until they had some MLB experience

It's incredibly hard to hit for power without selling out. It's like the pinnacle of baseball offense. Very tough nut to crack.

Moreno's power doesn't worry me. Young C's have a lot to worry about.

Groshans' power on the other hand...it looks like he might have to play a solid SS in order to stick at this rate.
