Any takers on this one?

Zulu throws a 4 seamer vs a sinker from Frasso. Velo is similar, 96-100 for both of them. Zulu has the 4th pitch to Frassos 3. Zulu has the better breaking ball. Frasso has the better change up. Zulu has more history as a prospect. Thats about it tbh. They both have nasty stuff and miss bats with their fastballs and secondary's. I guess Zulu has more helium since he was on the radar going into last year before he blew his knee out.

That's very aggressive.

Brandon Barriera...take note.

"Looking at those 22 teams before me, they're going to regret this," Barriera said on the MLB Network broadcast shortly after being drafted. "I'm going to become the best pitcher in MLB."

"I'm glad they picked me...," Barriera told Sportsnet's Shi Davidi. "When you look at their team, they play their young guys, they're not scared to bring up their young guys. That's something that I would love to be a part of."

Seems he doesnt need a whole lot of motivation beyond his perceived snub in draft position

What's really crazy about this story is Jack Leiter went Second Overall and has been getting his s*** kicked in all season at Double-A.

Good for Ricky. They are really pushing him and challenging him.

If Tiedemann is ace-like in AA do the Jays bring him up in September to throw out of the bullpen?

I think yes. AA will be the real test for him though. If he doesn't set the league on fire I'd let him finish the season there.

I think it's possible we'll see both Tiedemann and Frasso in the MLB bullpen this season if they dominate AA, it'll depend on how our bullpen is faring though and what additions they make.

Richards looks like a new man, Mayza seems to be getting back to form, Romano is Romano, Garcia has been solid, Cimber is Cimber...

We'll see what happens with Pearson, Merryweather and Hernandez who are all injured right now, but all have swing and miss stuff.

Then there is guys like Beasley and Gage who are dominating AAA, and other relievers they might want to look at like Spraker, Ellenbest and Eisert.

Hopefully when they're done throwing this mud at the wall a bunch of it sticks and looks like a Picasso in the end lol

I think you missed the most likely one, I think it's almost certain that Zulu gets a shot in the pen this season, since he'll be rule 5 elligible next off season anyway, so might as well get him on the 40 man now...

Whoops, I meant to type Tiedemann and Zulu not Teidemann and Frasso in the first sentence.

I would not think Tiedemann will be seen on the Jays this season and it’s even less likely that Frasso will.

I would think Zulueta will be at some point(rule 5 eligibility + his stuff and ability) as will Hernandez depending on how long his injury keeps him out. I thought he was going to be out for a short period of time but he hasn’t pitched since June 19th still.

Apparently, Kasevich has launch angle issues otherwise high floor, high ceiling guy; we fixed it for 2021 Vladdy, so lot of hope!

I wouldn't put Toman that high yet.

There was a pretty big drop off between Groshans and Zulueta prior to the draft IMO. It's a gap I think both Barriera and Toman fit into despite Toman being closer to the bottom end of it. Just my opinion obviously.

He's on rehab assignment, so soon. Hernandez that is.

I absolutely love that at least on the hitting side that we have a type and we know how to develop it or that’s the consensus among draftniks. That’s a great sign.

Also, pleasantly surprised that among all those pitchers (which I mostly thought of as cost saving) there are highly thought of guys.

The recent change in drafting philosophy is becoming increasingly apparent. It appears as though the days of burning high draft picks on "polished" but low ceiling college pitchers thankfully become a thing of the past. We've seen the organization waste far too many picks on the likes of Deck McGuire, Chad Jenkins, Jon Harris, etc. instead of taking the upside play and attempting to draft and develop actual impact pitchers. I liked that they appear to be targeting bullpen help through the draft more as the organization has largely failed to develop their own bullpen talent in the past.

Not sure they are targetting bullpen help. A lot of guys that pitched out of the bullpen in college end up being starters in MiLB. And vice versa.

They are just drafting interesting arms.

Anyone know why the DSL Bluejays don't seem to have any games going on anymore yet the rest of the league is still playing?
