Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Author Posted April 23, 2022 Tiedemann 5 innings of no hit ball. 8 K's, 4 BB Sitting 95. T98
spats Verified Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Just got back from the game in Dunedin. Tiedemann was impressive . His fastball was sitting at 95-98 and his splitter was 82-85. He is a big lefty with a very easy delivery. He did walk the bases loaded but did manage to get out unscathed. Not much else to see on this team. Groshans is rehabbing with the Jr. Jays and was the dh tonight. New ballpark is great..love the walk around in the outfield. The Jays new store was also pretty impressive. The best part of going to the game aside from the Tiedemann performance was the free ball cap. Paid $ 8 for the ticket and get a $15 dollar cap. The girl gave me an extra one on the way out. They were giving them out to the first 500 but the attendance was closer to 200. I sat right behind the plate ,4 rows up.Gotta love minor league ball.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Might just be HR happy with all the praise he got in ST and already hitting 4, he'll adjust to his norms which is probably mid 20%. Agreed.

Awesome. Minor league ball is great
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Awesome. Minor league ball is great Yeah. I loved it when the Diamondbacks had their rookie ball affiliate in Lethbridge. Now the whole league and level of ball is gone. Closest minor league team to me now is in Spokane.

Closest minor league team to me now is in Spokane. Great Falls, Billings, Missoula all used to have teams. Do they not anymore? Those would be close for you.

Yeah that was the Pioneer League, it’s gone from being affiliated with MLB when the Minor League restructuring that eliminated multiple rookie levels of ball took place. Now it’s an independent league, so it’s far less interesting
Ray Verified Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Disappointing to see Anthony Kay’s minor league numbers so far. Didn’t even get through a full inning and gave up 3 runs. 16.20 ERA in AAA so far.

spats Verified Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Interesting thing happened in the Dunedin game last night. One of the Mussels ( yes that's the name of the Ft.Meyers team ) stepped out of the box on a 2-2 count and Tiedemann threw the ball..automatic strike called...supposed to be a time saving rule but the manager comes out and argues the call for 5 min. Go figure. Btw, after Tiedemann walked the bases loaded in the 3rd and got out of the jam,he struck out the side in the 4th and the 1st batter in the 5th before leaving the game after 5 without giving up a hit. Impressive. I don't think he'll be in Dunedin very long.

There's not really any room to argue that call that I can see.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 That’s too bad yup. not that driving to Spokane for baseball is even that hard from here, its only about 7 hours through some of the best scenery you'll ever see, so when the Canadians go there for a series it can be a decent weekend trip... if their series falls on a weekend. July 22-24 is circled on the calendar, but I dont know yet if I can make that. Septembers weekend series is unlikely as I'll probably be back in classes by then and working weekends.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Logan Warmoth might be turning into something useful after largely underwhelming for most of his career up to this point. He's currently sporting a 165 WRC+ in AAA. The most encouraging sign is that he's managed to cut his strikeout rate fully in half dropping from last season's 33.2% down to a much more reasonable 16.3%. If he can even turn himself into a trade piece ala Kevin Smith that will feel like a small victory.

That K rate drop is certainly exciting.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't place any money down on the chances of him having sustained success. I recalled him having a hot streak as well last season. I looked up his numbers and he had one good month in June where he managed a 124 WRC+ for the month. This was largely BABIP driven at .396 and the k rate was obviously still concerning at 30%. The BABIP so far this year is far more reasonable at .347 (just about the same as his season average from 2021) so this may be more sustainable for him.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 I wonder why they moved him from the infield to exclusively the outfield? He must suck in the infield.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 I wonder why they moved him from the infield to exclusively the outfield? He must suck in the infield. Maybe this is partially related to positional need given the dearth of decent outfield prospects in the upper levels of the minors.

This is what I think it is, they've been doing the same with Samad Taylor, flexibility is a good thing.

Impressive. I don't think he'll be in Dunedin very long. He's definitely priority number 1 but I'd be curious how they'd manage to make that work since almost all our best pitching prospects are already in Vancouver. Robberse, Dallas, Palmer, Kloff. They seem to want Paulino and Gregory stretched out as well. If they promoted Tiedemann that would basically be all our good pitching prospects in the same rotation, and 7 starters, none of which are ready to be promoted. If they deem Ricky ready then he moves up and you make everything else work, it might just put a squeeze on some other good prospects.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Nothing wrong with Tiedeman staying in Dunedin and the excellent facility there for half or most of the season. These things will shake themselves out
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 Orelvis 1-5 with the HR, couple of flyouts and a ground out
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 Daniel Espino ridiculous today. 5 IP, 14K Did give up 3 hits, 1 HR
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 Moreno was DHing today and left the game after 2 ABs I wonder what's up with that?
