Laika Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 J-Rod rocking a 184 wRC+ in AA as a 20 yr old. With a surprising 10 SB. Gonna be a new A-Rod without the *******ry. Oh is he a shortstop now?

Love him or hate him, A-Rod was one of the best baseball players to ever play. I think even if he didn't use PEDs he would have had a similar career trajectory. But I hate him. I remember a game when he called of John McDonald from making an infield play that still sticks in my craw. What an *******.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Orelvis is going to be special boys. MLB is grading him at 55 now. Holy s***.

First, if someone told me Vlad stole 15 bases one year in the minors I wouldn’t be shocked.. But seriously, not to s*** on the concept of projections as I don’t disavow mathematics but you just don’t know. Dudes like Gavin Lux…everyone though Kelenic was breaking out after his initial overpowering but he’s back to where he started. It’s just such a jump and you just don’t truly know until they get up and face the real deal and adjust as needed
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Last I checked Riley Greene and Tork were struggling in AAA after getting laser hot in AA. Too lazy to check now
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 Jo Adell 180 wRC or something as 20yo AA with very respectable 22% k rate for power hitter

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 No Groshans for a few games now, must have gotten hurt. No Martinez tonight either, hopefully just a rest day.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Martinez not in the line up today either. f*** Might be giving him a little break. I think he has only been out a game or 2 on the season

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 Tork yes (104 wRC+), Greene no (132 wRC+) Damn. Haven’t checked recently. Thanks
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Orelvis still not playing. Been almost a week now I think. Trent Palmer had the swing and miss going for Dunedin today, 11 K's in 5 innings.
Ray Verified Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Gabriel Moreno is playing in the FCL today (rehab assignment) Already 3-for-3 with a double. Picking up right where he left off lol
Ray Verified Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Ideal scenario: - Kirk/Jansen both stick as a catching tandem - Moreno can stick either at 2B or 3B long term - Groshans fills the gap (2B or 3B) where Moreno isn't.

I'm not as optimistic on Groshans as others are. His bat looked really slow in the Spring, but who knows.

This seems to be the plan and I have to admit it seems to work.

Long term, if Moreno's bat is as special as we think it is, it may be a good idea to shift him to a less demanding physical position. Especially since we have tons of depth at catcher anyways. Just makes too much sense.

Jansen Catcher Kirk Catcher/DH Moreno 3b/2b/backup Catcher that is on standby in case Jansen gets injured when Kirk is DHing. Groshans - pinch hitter for pitcher who is batting because Jansen got injured when Kirk was DHing and Moreno hadn't caught in months.

Kirk is the next Edgar Martinez and needs 150 games 650 plate appearances one way or the other. Moreno is the next Edgar Martinez too so as soon as next year it will be like the middle of our lineup is Edgar Martinez, Albert Pujols, Edgar Martinez.

I get the Kirk Martinez comparison but don’t see Moreno Martinez.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 I get the Kirk Martinez comparison but don’t see Moreno Martinez. Both are pure hitters like Edgar. Moreno is just expected to be much more athletic and should provide defensive value. Man - I loved watching Edgar hit as a kid.

Josh Kasevich Buffalo Bisons - AAA SS Kasevich tallied 3 hits on Thursday including his 17th double. He's now hitting .303 on the season. Explore Josh Kasevich News >
