Does MLB confirm these results with other labs? I'm sure he had the results confirmed independently before taking the polygraph at least.

No excuse for failing a test though, he's a pro and shouldn't be taking any drug that the training staff doesn't approve.

It’s WADA that does the analysis for baseball, the same body that handles the Olympics.

Assuming it’s the same procedure, after a failed test they test a B sample to rule out contamination of the first sample.

Nate Pearson’s Pitching Coach on Grunting, Routines, and Hard Changeups

Feb 15, 2018 | Posted by Lance Brozdowski | Around the League, Baseball

Fluctuation of prospect value during the offseason is a mental exercise. Given the lack of activity to substantiate one’s changing opinion, hype can often be attributed to reputable names in the industry praising players, or the release of top prospect lists into the wild. Nate Pearson’s name has generated helium in the recent months, but instead of dismissing a storyline and citing our historically slow offseason for the surfacing of this hype, I wanted to understand the origin of praise surrounding our budding prospect.

Jim Czajkowski, the Vancouver Canadians pitching coach helped put into perspective how bullish the Blue Jays organization is on their first-round pick from 2017’s draft. Pearson carries a 6-foot-6, 240-pound frame onto the mound, his arm balancing out the offensive firepower Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. bring to a system loaded with top-end talent.

Having groomed the likes of Aaron Sanchez, Marcus Stroman, and Noah Syndergaard, Czajkowski’s reps with advanced skill sets and assessment of their potential needs no introduction.

“[Nate] is better at his age than any of those guys were…. If I were to rank those guys, Sanchez probably had the best pure arm action and a good curveball, a good sinking fastball too, but Nate has all four [pitches]."

This is the guy we traded Joe Smith for

Maybe he ate some of his dog's food.

A polygraph test is as useful as “thoughts and prayers”.

Gutted at this news, Pannone was someone I thought could make a big step this year.

Every time polygraphs are brought up, I'm continuously amazed by how many experts post here.

12:05 Is there a possibility that by the end of the year, MacKenzie Gore is the best pitching prospect of all time?

Eric A Longenhagen

12:06 Very possible.

Was at the Complex today to watch intra squad games. Unfortunately, AAA vs AA game didn't materialize but got to watch Pearson pitch a few innings...didn't give up a hit and fastball sat at mid to high 90's. Met his Dad who was sitting with former Jay Mark Whitten who happened to coach Nate in his early years. Took a picture with him...I'm 5-10, so you can see the size of this kid. The good news is that he is assigned to Dunedin, so will get to watch him for a month. I was also impressed with Warmoth and Riley ..quick bats.Pearson 003.jpg

Nice, pretty much every day I was at the complex it was AA/AAA day, so I couldn't chat with Pearson.

Are the rosters official yet? Ugh I was told/heard a few things but don't wanna say it yet till its official. Tom Robson might be getting tommy john again I think, poor guy.

The only official word I got was from Charlie Wilson ( head of player development ) that Pearson and Zuech would be in Dunedin. I thought T.J. would be moved up to AA. I'm sure assignments would have been decided today. Are you still here?

No I left Friday night, but that's not surprising with TJ Z, he didn't play/practice with the AA team on Thursday/Friday at Tampa/Dunedin that I watched. Biggio played 1st base on Thursday with the AA team, so I guess he will be a utility guy this year.

Charlie was my hockey coach back in 2000/01 when I was 14 at York Mills Hockey Club in Toronto, so we go way back, we had some chats this week but nothing too crazy, I mostly heard stuff through players talking with coaches in the open.

Small world. I met Charlie about 5 years ago and he mentioned that he coached hockey in Toronto. I see him once a year when I'm at the complex and he always has time to chat...great guy.

On Monday night I was playing poker at Tampa Hard Rock with someone who's son in a 1B in the SD system, was pretty cool to pick his mind for a few hours.

Naw, but he said that he knew former Jay MILB player Mark Sobolewski who lives in South Florida/coached his son, his son used to play with SRF (he thought SRF was till 5'11'', lol), and other MILB life stuff.

Thanks. Retirement has been great for me...baseball, the beach, tennis golf. Now if I can only find a good woman who realizes those things are important to me.

Good luck with that. My fiancee calls fantasy baseball, "fake baseball" and gets upset when I "waste time" with it. Good thing I only have 9 teams this year. :)

Pearson looks like he's actually slimmed down significantly from where he was before
