Ray Verified Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Bichette 2 for 2 with a triple so far. Kid is a god. This kid is unbelievable. Even if he doesn't pan out, what he's doing at such a young age is still pretty incredible. He's already proving he can hit, but what about his glove? Scouts were saying he might not stick at short. More than likely corner OF or 2B.

Well they are giving him a chance to develop at short, he's getting more reps there than pure SS guy Yeltsin Gudino. I've yet to see a good reason why he can't do it - it's not like he's too big or way too slow. One thing that hasn't received any publication is how Bo has actually sped up and slimmed down since entering pro ball. MLB shortstop is super hard so he's probably a 3B or 2B. He's not a f***ing OF though - lazy scouting.

Lack of range and mediocre glovework have always been the knocks on Bichette's defense. He's shown a strong and accurate arm in my limited viewings. If we are forced to move him, I think that 3B is the best option for his skillset. Right field is also an option if Vlad Jr. remains on the same developmental path.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Pompey finally played today, apparently. Holy s***. Can anyone confirm whether or not he was in fact covered in bubble wrap?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 From Fangraphs prospect chat today: Josh: How bout that Lansing Lugnuts roster? Eric A Longenhagen: It’s unreal. Bo Bichette is raking, Vlad is one of the best prospects in baseball and I really like Palacios. Woodman is a prospect…a very fun roster.

Most surprising is that he considers Woodman a prospect with that k-rate lol.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 (edited) Isn't Olivares more interesting than Palacios? Woodman has a K% of 40% in A ball. That isn't fun at all. Edited May 17, 2017 by Brownie19 need to add a shot at how shitty Woodman is.

Laika Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 The greatest hitter alive right now
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 CorDick - right. Is baseball good because Bichette, in addition to being a rising star prospect is also effective using twitter? or because it's like a big family and they are all so happy when others succeed?

Effectively using twitter by rising young stars doesn't make baseball better, it's the fact that they are huge fans of the game also, just like we all are. That's what makes it great.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Also, Corey Dickerson is known for swinging as hard as possible to try to murder the baseball, regardless of the count. If Bo is a fan of that approach, which it would appear he most certainly is, that's just another reason to love the guy.
Clutchlings Verified Member Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Having seen a lot of Bichette online and in person, I think he has the fast-twitch skills to cover a lot of ground at short, but he doesn't have the arm strength to make that throw from the hole.
Clutchlings Verified Member Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Jays took a bunch of low leverage college seniors with most of their 4th through 10th round picks, and used all their savings to go all in on Tellez. They also scooped Danny Jansen for $100K from the baseball backwater of Wisconsin (his stock had fallen due to injury, too) in that draft. Of course, they failed to sign Bickford, and they released Hollon this spring after a pair of drug suspensions, so it wasn't all gravy.

Look back at the draft where they had 5 1st rounders(1st round plus sandwhich picks)and only came away with Brett Cecil and Arencibia. The other guys were Justin Jackson, Kevin Ahrens, and Trystan Magnussen.

He was an insurance policy of sorts, a plan B to throw money at if necessary. Thankfully it worked out.

Man, so many were high on him, and he was an absolute dud... converted to a pitcher even.

Man, so many were high on him, and he was an absolute dud... converted to a pitcher even. Ahrens was the 1st pick. Rumour was they wanted Mesoraco but he was sniped. If they had landed Mesoraco, they probably wouldn't have drafted JPA with their next pick. Likely would have have gone Mesoraco/Ahrens instead of Ahrens/JPA.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Woodman isn't a prospect until his K rate goes down, and he's already 22. Not a fan, but I guess he has time to improve. Bichette and Vladdy are the future, my friends.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Man that 2007 draft was so awful, the only players who were able to sustain big league careers were Brett Cecil and Marc Rzepczynski.
