strochez Verified Member Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Former MWL MVP Ryan McBroom making his AA debut tonight. He's not at the same level as Tellez but I still think he could be a solid major leaguer.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 So what do we make of Maese's start today? 5IP, 10H, 1R, 1BB, 2K Bad luck? Or too much pitch to contact?

admin Site Manager Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Pompey just keeps hitting. Dom Brown has been killing it lately too.

Lots of grounders getting through I would guess, nothing to worry about. Infield D can be pretty sketchy at that level, so just focus on K/BB and GB% for now.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Something about that Maese pick always seemed so corny to me. Why? He has an above average, good draft age, good control, reports show improvement. He may not have the big body or big strikeout pitch but he looks good so far.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I meant to say above average fastball.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Where is king with his daily milb post??? 2 mornings in a row now with now daily updates!

Just doesn't have a big strikeout pitch yet. Still young I'm not too worried. If he never does develop an effective swing and miss pitch his sinker will play up well in the bullpen. That pitch will take him a long way. Edited July 24, 2016 by King

Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Barnes another no hit inning with 1 K today. Somebody free this man. #FreeBarnes

Hard to put a lot if stock in hits given up in the low minors unless it's very consistent from start to start. Defense is shaky all over the diamond down there. He needs to develop a consistent swing and miss offering though
mikebel111 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Pentecost with his 7th HR, also had a double today. He is having a very good return from injury but he really needs to get behind the plate ASAP.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Pentecost over Trea Turner. Yuck. That's not really fair though, the MLB draft is a crapshoot.

Having him right now could really help us land a significant piece at the deadline... Pentecost was injured, therefore any comparison is completely pointless and literally stupid. He's had horrible injury luck, it happens. There are quite a few notable draft analysts who really liked Pentecost, his prospect status has been hurt by injuries and injuries alone.
strochez Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Couple good outings from Jays pitchers today, Conner Greene and Wilfri Aleton. Greene pitched all 7 innings for the first half of the Fisher Cats doubleheader and picked up the complete game shutout. His final line was 7IP 4H 2BB 7K with a GB/FB ratio of 7-1. Meanwhile "Big Wilf" finished with a line of 6IP 4H 1BB 7K and a GB/FB ratio of 7-2. He's pitched very well recently and dropped his season ERA to 1.69. My guess would be most of the call-ups and roster shuffling would occur after the NWL All-Star Game on August 2nd which is effectively the end of the first half for short-season ball.

Greene is good again thanks to his pitching coach from Lansing who is now in New Hampshire

mikebel111 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 The young man is back The last few weeks, he has been playing like the Alford of last season. Hopefully he can have a strong finish to the season. I still feel his poor season is because of the injuries he has had. Anyone know if he is still playing with a brace?
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
