CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 It's either at 3:37 or 4:07 ET depending on who wins the wildcard game. Thanks, but where did you get this info?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Thanks, but where did you get this info? From earlier in the thread: Brendan Kennedy @BKennedyStar 23s23 seconds ago MLB says #bluejays-#rangers will play at 3:37 or 4:07 on Thursday, 12:45 on Friday and 8:10 on Sunday. All times EST.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 From earlier in the thread: Oops, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out!
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Horrible game times except for Sunday. I reserved a hotel room on Friday in dowtown Toronto but they don't allow check-ins before 2pm. Guess I'll look like s*** at the game but who cares haha
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Our team isn't very hard to figure out...elite sluggers in Bautista and Edwin, elite two-way players in Donaldson, Tulo and Martin, defense-first guys in Pillar and Goins, speedy leadoff guy in Revere, 1B platoon - one is good defender with pop (Smoak), the other is mostly just a hitter (Colabello). Then we have the ace, the mini-ace, and the knuckleball guy - HM: crafty vet having a career year by ERA. Then the bullpen is pretty good. Its more the way they act and describe us that bothers me. Makes you feel like an Alien in you're own hometown.
Mozzer Verified Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Thanks, but where did you get this info? Also, It was announced earlier on fan590 and it's listed on the Jays website

admin Site Manager Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Buck is much better in his proper role. Does the MLBTV deal we signed up for cover the playoffs? I guess it will be easy to find a different stream if needed, but easier to stream the MLB deal to my TV.

intrigid Verified Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I would rather listen to Buck and Pat than 2 idiots who know nothing about our team. Unless its Shulman whois actually from here and watches the team. I'm actually looking forward to watching a broadcasts that knows how to do instant replay, heck even show the play currently underway. It has to be at least 20 times each game where Sportsnet simply does not show a pickoff attempt, a check swing side view, the location of a disputed strike, or even a half-decent angle on a fair/foul call. It's truly a minor league level broadcast, has been since 1999. But at least it's improved from A ball to triple-A quality.

This is a good point, ever since the sellouts started happening Sportsnet misses what happens on the field because they are intent on showing the crowd between every single pitch. It's infuriating. I like seeing the signs from the catcher, the staredown from the hitter, the dynamics on the bases, and we miss it all the time because we have to show some bozo in fantasy land clapping
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 This schedule is f***ed. I hope the Blue Jays are bitching. Both games should start at 8. Haven't f***ing idiots heard of watching 2 channels at once? I can watch 8 at once if I wanted too. The only people this effects is the fan base. Going to be a f***ing zoo in Toronto. And everyone is going to be drunk on weekday mornings. I guess thats nothing new to Spanky. Why don't you eat a dump truck full of dicks asswipe.

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I find it kind of funny some people are up in arms about these start times. Was anyone actually expecting something different? This is the way MLB does it in the first round.

Was anyone actually expecting something different? This is the way MLB does it in the first round. I did. Even if this is the way things were done in the past, many professional leagues and TV networks correct past mistakes and consider the hardship they are causing for fans. This isn't some baseball tradition. After all, there was only one round, the World Series, for close to a hundred years up to 1969. From 1969 - 1993 there were only two rounds. I can understand there being afternoon workday games back in the early to mid 1900's, before artificial lighting, but there is no reason for it in 2015. The scheduled times are completely absurd, that's why the NHL, NFL and NBA would never even consider have afternoon working-day games. Edited October 6, 2015 by nextyear
Auldphartt Verified Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 While the Jays/Rangers games obviously aren't priority to MLB and its commitment to its advertisers, 12:30 is ridiculous. Even if they don't care about all the Jays' fans in western Canada having to endure a 9:30 AM start, what about all the good ol' boys in the land of freedom and liberty who live in the Lone Star State? Are all Texans presumed to keep farmers' hours and want to watch baseball at 10:30 AM? A 3:30 or 4:00 start time may not be prime time, but at least it doesn't exclude a large part of one team's and most of the other team's viewership. If any game should be started at 12:30 PM, it should be between two teams in the Eastern time zone.

I guess I'm showing my age but back in the 1950s when I was in school and the postseason consisted only of the WS, all games were day games and all lessons at my school in London Ontario were suspended at game time. Radio coverage of the games was put over the school's public address system and we sat at our desks and listened to the games, with the teacher supplying explanations and answering questions as necessary. I guess baseball was considered a valuable life skill and an important part of a good education in those days. Now they seem more concerned with teaching political "correctness" (an obvious oxymoron). Pity.
Candide Verified Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 i'm loving the game 1 and game 2 start times, being in Europe and all. going to catch game 1 after work in London and game 2 in Amsterdam. trouble is finding a place that will show the game in Amsterdam, so I'll probably just go to a coffeeshop, hide in the corner, huddle over my 14" laptop and watch the game.
ColdPint Verified Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 My apologies if it has already been asked but what are our best streaming options for these games. It'd be tough to swing a 3 hour lunch break....

I looked it up, and surprisingly the first World Series night game was 1971 - http://www.hardballtimes.com/tht-live/40th-anniversary-first-world-series-night-game/ . It is surprising considering how uncommon working day afternoon games would have been by that time (except at Wrigley Park).

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Does anyone remember if the first playoff games sctually start on time, or are they delayed because of the penang banner raising and whatnot
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Does anyone remember if the first playoff games sctually start on time, or are they delayed because of the penang banner raising and whatnot I would think there is some kind of ceremony. Maybe even player introductions. I'm expecting it to start closer to 5 but will see.

Game has to start on time
