I'm a student whose classes don't extend much into the afternoon.

Part of the postseason's fun is that it gives each team an undivided national audience. Every fan in baseball will be watching the Blue Jays play later this week and that's pretty cool.

I love the fact that you can see every game and see how other teams cope and watch it all unfold without having to flip channels or go cross eyed.

Haha - Have any Toronto fans watched the MLB postseason the past decade? This has been going on for a long time. They avoid game overlaps like the plague. Anyone expecting any differently for a Canadian team hasn't been paying attention.

How many ESPN Sundays has Toronto got in the past five years? The US viewership just isn't there.

(And yes, I agree that a two games at once model would work and also be better)

The casuals who have never followed baseball until this August are just fuming because that means that they can't all get together Friday night before the game at Jack Astors after work to socialize and pretend they've been long time Blue Jays fans and go out right after the game at 10 PM to party.

As great as it is to have tons of casuals/bandwagoners, they'll never have the satisfaction that we have. So many dark days.

All of us on this message board who have been following the Jays for years and baseball in general deserve this! Nothing beats having October Baseball!

12:30 weekday sucks for a lot of people not just bandwagoners.

Most definitely. I've been following this forum since its inception and before that the old team forum, and before this year all we had to be excited about was drafting/prospect development. This year has seriously been a long time coming.

Nice. Same! I think I created my account the day after Reed Johnson hit 2 homeruns on father's day weekend when he was a rookie lol. Jesus Christ it's been a long road haha.

jays draw the early game because they are the only game that's EST. KC have a 2:30 local time start, Cards with a 5:30 local start and Dodgers a 6:30 local time...

there really isn't another way to do it. none of the times are optimal for the fans. try getting through traffic in LA, WHERE THERE IS NO WORKING PUBLIC TRANSIT, they will have to leave at lunch time to make it.

They won't though because a lot will still be at work, and you can bet nobody in the states is booking the afternoon off to watch the Jays

s*** that's long time ago lol. Reed Johnson was awesome. I never looked at his OBP but it always seemed like he got on base and contributed.

Really hits home just how much you've been through the wringer when you start getting congratulatory texts, even from people you haven't talked to for awhile saying how happy they are for you. The struggle was real.

Also, can't really judge a person by the date they joined a message board. That's ridiculous.

not sure what you are disagreeing with.

This schedule is f***ed. I hope the Blue Jays are bitching. Both games should start at 8. Haven't f***ing idiots heard of watching 2 channels at once? I can watch 8 at once if I wanted too.

This is exactly why MLB avoids playoff overlaps like the plague. Everyone would do this and nobody would watch any commercials. It has nothing to do with courting fans into watching 12 hour baseball marathons. It has to do with maximizing TV revenue. Advertisers understand this, and there's no way in hell they'll pay top dollar for overlapping sports events. Same reason why radio stations have been synchronizing their commercials for decades.

I'm using half a vacation day for tomorrow's game. I made it palatable to the boss by "trading" it for the full day off on Tuesday I had no intention of using.

f***ing ninja.

I'll be missing game 2 though... so maybe not so much ninja.

I watch games on the computer at work anyhow, so it doesn't matter what the start time is for me. I understand people's frustration. Many, especially bandwagon fans who don't normally pay attention to post-season baseball, will be caught off guard.

If it's sunny out, any chance the dome is open? How cold is too cold for them to play with it open?

The schedule shows no consideration for the fans who have supported teams throughout North America. This isn't baseball tradition, it is just a lack of consideration by MLB for their fans. How long has this tradition even existed; at one time not too long ago there was only one NL pennant winner and one AL pennant winner that played in the World Series. Did this afternoon tradition exist in the not too distant past when there were only 2 playoff teams in each league?

It doesn't just affect so called bandwagon fans, it affects even die-hard baseball fans. That's why baseball introduced artificial light way back in 1935 - http://www.crosley-field.com/FNG/index.html. Work-day afternoon games isn't some cute baseball tradition, it is just a lack of consideration for the fans.

If the blue jays want prime time TV spots, they just need to advance in the playoffs. It's as simple as that. Rooting for the Yankees is something to consider as well.

That's the difference though. This isnt the World Series yet...

RIP my mobile data usage LOL

I've watched many games at work, I need my fix, but all I wanted to do was watch this on the bigscreen with the sound up!

I hope there's going to be streams that work on my phone lol.

I can get off work early on Thursday, take a day off work on Friday and Monday is Canada's Thanksgiving so I will see all the games live on TV, but I am still peeved that MLB schedules games this way; in my opinion, it is indefensible.
