Going to visit my family in Manchester, NH next week.. and we're driving into Boston for a Sox game at Fenway while we're there. I've only ever been to one MLB game in my life.. at the Dome about 8 years ago.. Jays vs Mariners. Boston is hosting Tampa and Baltimore next week, so I guess I can legitimately cheer for the Red Sox with my family down there.. haha

We're also looking at doing the "Batting Practice Tour".. where you get to go out on the field, and then sit up on top of the Green Monster to watch batting practice before the game. It's first come first served though.. so we'll see. Either way, pretty stinkin' excited.. not just for me, but for my 8 year old boy too!!

All that being said... Go Jays Go!!

don't man...

or at least, consider what I posted on the Red Sox board first.

I was in attendance for the 5-1 Jays's win on sept. 8th in gorgeous Boston.

First observation, on a beautiful tuesday night, in a close pennant race, half the seats were empty when the game started between the a top team in the AL east.

By the 3rd inning, one could say 3 seats out of 4 would have found takers. How many of those were occupied by us Jays's fans? 15%? 25% more? Hard to say at this point.

Very dissapointing in a presume baseball town, a beautiful tuesday night with perfect weather, with the home team only 14 games back.

Second though: very silent home crowd. Only showed support for home team when

something ALREADY happened like a run scored, a hit...No support at all for the home team. I was surronded by BoSox "fans" until the 7th and I would have though I was alone with my wife in our section (Grandstand right behind home plate).

Speaking of the 7th, Red Sox's fans deserted the premises like a fire alert was on.

If you threw the towel on the pennant (way to early to do so), at least don't you like baseball enough to hang around? BoSox fans who attend home games are like Canadiens's fans in Montréal, they leave early if the home team is on the way to loose.

No apparent love for the game, only winning counts.

Last observation, I can certainly say that, beginning with the top half of the 8th, at least 60% of the remaining spectator on hand were Jays fans. We were so dominant that when we began chanting "Let's go Blue Jays", there was not enough Red Sox fans left to try to counter.

Bottom line, maybe the Red Sox players deserves at shot at the post season, but, from what I could see, the average Yankees fan do not. You are, as a whole, only interested in winning, baseball is an afterthough for you.

Case in point, look at your own forum right now, all the top topics aren't about baseball.

Boy, you deserve no post-season.

You're full of s***, you mixed up your Yankee post by subbing in Red Sox, see bold above. You 'forgot' to swap Yankees fans for Red Sox. On top of that, you're over the top disrespectful. Do you not realize Toronto has had like 1/4 full stadium the past 20 years? During which there have been an equal amount of Red Sox fans at the dome to Jays fans who also drowned our chants.

Thought that was the Yankees...? http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/5442-My-visit-to-Yankees-stadium-on-sept-11th

Anyways.. I like baseball and it's Fenway Park! Nuff said.

@HerpDerp - not a big enough fan to have a jersey.. but maybe i'll pick up a hat to wear. Haven't had a Blue Jays hat since I was a kid in the early 90's...

I hope you have a lot of fun and just enjoy the experience. I've taken my now 6 year old to 3 Jays games so far (took my 3 year old to his first this year), try to remember it's all about them. Baseball for a young kid can be quite boring for 9 innings but if they want to walk around and check out the place just do it because they will remember that more.

Have fun! Don't forget to burn the rat infested joint to the ground on your way out.

Do the Stadium tour as well....it's well worth the nominal money it costs.

When I was in Boston - we did the hop on - hop off bus tours too and found them to be excellent. We used that as our taxi as it was like 40 min round trip. Boston is a wicked City, you'll have a blast. I can't wait to go back....never heard of this batting practice tour - sounds like fun.

Well Candie is going to have to make a new account..

I can't figure out if that was intentional or if they really are that stupid. I have to believe it was intentional. It's too difficult to believe somebody can be that stupid.

We went last year too.. but were only in Boston for an afternoon.. it was WAY too rushed to really enjoy. Going to spend at least a full day there this time.. probably more. My wife is a photographer on the side as well.. so she's been googling "photo ops in Boston" a lot lately.. haha

Here is the list of tours: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/bos/ballpark/tour.jsp Batting practice tour is the 4th one down.. when I first saw the name I got all excited thinking they actually let YOU take some batting practice on the field.. but that would be too good to be true.. haha

That's so cool Gov. I started taking my boy from Calgary to TOR when he was 4 to watch three game series. He is 7 now.

We did 2 years TOR and this yr I took him to Houston for 3 gms....and we just booked for the last home stand against the Rays this year.

There is nothing better than taking him to watch it with him, and he loves it even though we are 1-8 in his games so far lol. I find a lot of the Jays are great to the little ones with the balls and autographs.

I met a lot of the '92-'93 Jays, I can't say I found them all that friendly for the most part. I was 12/13, so not exactly a kid but still a younger fan. I haven't met any of the current Jays but I get the feeling they're mostly friendly and approachable.

All i can say is get there early and walk around the stadium, check out the places that are close by, some amazing places to eat. The most fun I had there was on Yawkey prior to the game. Great food and atmosphere.

I too went to the 5-1 game described above. That Tuesday, My wife and I were sitting around the Montreal DMV, with about a hundred people ahead of us in like.

My wife asked me what time it was, and I replied "It's 7 hours until Blue Jays."

"Where are they playing tonight?"

"Boston."

Then we joked about how we could make it there in time for the game if we left at that moment.

Seven hours later we were in Fenway Park for the first time ever.

The game was great, the Jays fans were everywhere, and the Sox fans were welcoming. We ended up buying tickets from season ticket holders with two extra seats just a few rows back from the Jays dugout. We paid half for those seats than what I paid for Spring Training seats in the Montreal games earlier this year.

My only complaint is that parking is ridiculous. 50 American for a lot anywhere near Fenway is standard.
