Wolf Verified Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 So we are a .555 team without him now? What's your point? Tulo is the X-Factor. The Blue Jays are a much better team w/ him in the lineup.

Governator Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 It hasn't helped that our MVP has had a simultaneous off week with Tulo being out. Our best bat is in a small slump while our starting SS is shelved. Don't fret, JD will get hot when he's destined to and send us to the promise land.

The team was probably better than their 500 record before adding Price Revere and Tulo and reinforcing the bullpen Those were quite the additions

Could be injured. Hopefully just a slump like earlier in the year that he'll soon bust out of with a vengeance.

I don't think anyone here noticed, and they definitely didn't talk about it on SN, but Donaldson had a major wrist wrap on his forearm and hand all throughout August. He clearly had some kind of injury, but August was his best month. Right now his timing is just off. I don't think it has anything to do with his wrist, unless he injured it alot worse in NY.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 If/when we clinch the division or playoff position, hopefully at least 1% of Gibbons' brain is functional and he sits our regulars.

Tanaka misses a start. Edwins finger throbs every swing and miss. The way I see it this is a war of attrition and adversity and we will see what our guys are made of.

As long as he's playing I guess they'll keep any type of injury quiet for fear of an apocalypse-like panic across Canada.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 There's no way he doesn't play in October. He'll be back in a week or so, I'd wager.

nextyear Verified Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I just remembered that the injury wasn't on his throwing side; the injury is on his catching side. He might be able to throw without to much pain but he won't be ready until he can hit and field.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I dunno throwing is a lot different than swinging a bat. Also what happens when he has to dive for a ball? Just do the Derek Jeter half-assed bend at the waist "I tried" move. Give me 60% of Tulo over Pennington or Kawasaki.

Im still optimistic....even if is naïve. We will know soon enough if he is in our out.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Seeing that is actually further along that I'd have expected, especially with the news that he's apparently now also taking some swings off a tee. I really hope that he's able to make it back, definitely missing his presence out there.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Gibbys interview on Baseball Central today he mentioned that he is hoping Tulo would be back for the final series against Tampa... He may not make it back, but this attempt at getting back is more than a stunt to prevent hysteria in the fan base. Its legit IMO.

I'm just worried about him being s*** if he's still hurting. I saw some video of him fielding and talking to the coach, and he looks like he still can't raise his glove arm above his head. How many catches/plays will he not make because of this? I just hope that if he does come back, that he is actually capable of playing SS still.

Pretty sure his thought process is if we have clinched the division by the final series, let Tulo get some game time in and see how he fairs prior to submitting post season rosters.

And the big thing is to face live pitching to try and get his timing down.

Agree with these posts. The deeply bruised muscles can heal pretty quickly. I'm sure they feel better every day with treatment. That's one thing. The issue he/we face is....whats the impact of the small crack in the scapula to hitting and the rigours of fielding. They want to try to find out in 9 more days.

That may be good, but if it exacerbates his condition we would not see him at all for the post season and possibly part of 2016. Though, I see some think he's some kind of lucky rabbits foot rather then a contributor to the team, due to the fact he has a good winning record since joining the BJ (voodoo math) It would be nice to see him come back from this injury and breakout of the hitting funk he's in. I imagine the real Tulo returning and the way Goins has been handling the bat just solidifies the batting order.
