37stieb Verified Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Anyone want to take up a collection online. If we raise maybe $1-2k, a member can go to washington to meet the pope, and ask him to pray for Tulo's quick recovery? Then world peace and clean air? ha ha

If we raise maybe $1-2k, a member can go to washington to meet the pope, and ask him to pray for Tulo's quick recovery? Then world peace and clean air? ha ha Yes, first lets get Tulo back and then we will address all that other "stuff"
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 For sure. Tulo definitely wants to play in the postseason. I'm just worried about him being s*** if he's still hurting. I saw some video of him fielding and talking to the coach, and he looks like he still can't raise his glove arm above his head. How many catches/plays will he not make because of this? I just hope that if he does come back, that he is actually capable of playing SS still. 4 days ago, was the first time he could lift his arm to put a shirt on. It's going to take time.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 That may be good, but if it exacerbates his condition we would not see him at all for the post season and possibly part of 2016. Though, I see some think he's some kind of lucky rabbits foot rather then a contributor to the team, due to the fact he has a good winning record since joining the BJ (voodoo math) It would be nice to see him come back from this injury and breakout of the hitting funk he's in. I imagine the real Tulo returning and the way Goins has been handling the bat just solidifies the batting order. It won't linger into 16'
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 unlikely to be much if any time off for the regulars..... it will be a dogfight with the Royals for league crown to the end
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 My physiotherapist who's working on my shoulder says he should be back pretty soon which has almost as much credibility as Spanky who could probably have an MD by now
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I had the exact same injury and I was back playing video games in 3 weeks.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I'm skeptical about Tulo being healthy enough to play in the regular season...but I like the optimism. That said, I said to curb your expectations for Stroman so what do I know.

nextyear Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Gibbys interview on Baseball Central today he mentioned that he is hoping Tulo would be back for the final series against Tampa... He may not make it back, but this attempt at getting back is more than a stunt to prevent hysteria in the fan base. Its legit IMO. Here are a couple of stories to confirm the information that you posted. Gibbons even indicated that it might be as early as the Baltimore series: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-john-gibbons-says-troy-tulowitzki-return-possible-vs-orioles-or-rays/ http://www.torontosun.com/2015/09/24/tulowitzki-could-be-back-soon-gibbons-says

If Tulo comes back I truly believe we have a legitimate shot at going all the way. Stroman's return was a game-changer for sure, but without Tulo I would not be confident in winning more than a round. His defence and hitting (I agree with most on here that his hitting is bound to come around) are elite and make us significantly better as a team, with all due respect to Pennington and Barney.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 With Goins @ 2B and Tulo @ SS we are a much better team. Who didn't think Tulo was going to bust out and get hot each and every AB? Tulo is a game changer and I hope he can make it back. He knows how rare these chances are after his one fleeting run with the Rockies.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I like to play doctor on a BJMB, tulo will come back and hit .350 or he'll retire permanently
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Tulo coming back is huge, he protects EE and definitely lengthens the lineup My doctor senses say he's okay
frizzer1 Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 If Smoltz plays and bats 5th as Gibbons always seems to set it up,then EE gets no protection and like we saw the last game, he gets intentional walks. So losing Tulo is almost like losing Edwin too...
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Good news, I had a dream last night that Tulo was back in the playoffs and raking. This is a sure sign that everything is going to be okay.

37stieb Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 With Smoak's Rasmus like strike out rate. Would it be prudent to place Cola and sacrifice defence on 1st. in the early innings. Though I'm seeing much improvement lately with Cola. How about Matt Hague, is hot not a 1st basemen?

I think you have to run with Cola for a bit. Smoak has been very bad lately and failed in a lot of big spots. See if Cola can get hot and ride him down the stretch. Put Smoak in late innings for D

Guys, Cola's K rate is 26% and Smoaks is 27%. Smoaks BB rate is 4% higher than Cola's. Its surprising but look it up. It seems worse for Smoak cause he has had some brutal games lately. Ask for Cola to come in if you think he will hit LHP and we can suck up the loss on D, but don't think he doesn't K a lot too.
