BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Awesome. KC broadcast and stadium unbelievably subdued...Tied for 1st AL. They know they need their mojo back. Go Jays! Just keep taking em one at a time and rack up W's.
baubau Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Hopefully the Twins make the WC game, Sano hits 3 homeruns at Yankee Stadium and I'm on my way to watch playoff baseball in Minneapolis. That and we crush the Twinkies.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Pls Houston beat the Yanks in the WC game, assuming we don't cough up the division.

nextyear Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Kansas City Royals are now 12-17 since August 25. I wonder if they will even make it to the AL championship; they might lose to Texas or whoever wins the AL West. Right now it looks like: Blue Jays versus wild card (probably Yankees) and Kansas City versus Texas Blue Jays versus Texas for AL Championship Blue Jays versus Cardinals for World Series I hope I haven't jinxed the Blue Jays.

With a burned out pen sans Greg Holland due to pending TJS, and middle to back end rotation starters in the rotation, and a struggling Cueto, they're destined to get bounced in the ALDS by the Rangers/Astros/Angels, while the Jays likely get the Yankees, who will burn Tanaka in the wild card game, or the Astros with Keuchel.. and if the Twins get in, that series could be very quick, as that rotation is awful.

Highandinside Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I am not scared of ANY of the AL teams TBH I agree! I think we kick the s*** out of the American League teams all the way to the World Series. Nobody has good enough pitching to contend with our offence. We've had dominating series against every postseason AL team during the regular season. The WS would be a different story. Dodgers, Mets, Cards all have pitching that can put our hitters in a slump. Also outside of Price and maybe Stroman we still don't truly know if our own pitchers can sustain consistent success. I also think our crowd will be the difference maker. It's going to be an impossible place to play for visiting ball clubs.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Rather play the rangers than Astros/Yankees but w/e.
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 The Kansas City Royals seem to be over-performing based on their runs scored versus runs allowed. (source: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp) Kansas City: 89 wins - 65 losses total runs scored = 694 (4.51/game); total runs allowed = 626 (4.06/game) Toronto Blue Jays: 89 wins - 65 losses total runs scored = 848 (5.51/game); total runs allowed = 627 (4.07/game)

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Rather play the rangers than Astros/Yankees but w/e. Cuz of the layoff between games or just the pitching? Rangers for sure have the best lineup of the 3.
Mozzer Verified Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I'm not worried so much about one particular team, but I am worried about a 5 game series vs any team. Luck and momentum play a bigger factor in a short series. In a seven gamer, I fear no AL team.

Luck and momentum play a bigger factor in a short series. In a seven gamer, I fear no AL team. I feel it should be the other way around. Every team in the AL should fear the Jays. Game 1 with price in the mound and our lineup is about as intimidating as it gets.

Mozzer Verified Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 But I get what you are saying in a shorter series. No doubt we are the team who should be feared, but if let's say the WC winner comes into Toronto riding on a high and wins the first game vs price that could be very difficult to recover from in such a short series. Suddenly road team beats ace pitcher and has stolen home field and then we're looking at Stroman to pull out a huge game and he's barely got a handful of starts under his belt...

I get that and it a legit concern, but it's a concern that pretty much every team faces. Our ace in the hole is that we can win regardless of who is on the mound due to our lineup.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Add in the advantage of a returning tulo and that makes our lineup deeper and more dangerous. Even if tulo isn't where he should be offensively, his presence in the lineup plays a big role.

Tulo and Goins up the middle on D...with another well respected power threat in Tulo shortening the bottom of the order. Me likey.
