Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Yet the Rangers have struggled vs. Toronto, being 2-4. And really, a lot of their success has been due to weak Seattle and Oakland teams, and dominating a Houston team, who is good, but has really struggled this month (7-14), due to bullpen struggles and fatigue with the rotation. It is still possible the Angels could sneak in as well, as LA's remaining schedule is favorable, and they've dominated the Rangers this season. 6 games is not a good statistical sample
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Greg Holland has a UCL tear, likely requires TJS. Explains why he has been so bad this year.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Lol at being afraid of the Rangers. ...Jays don't need to be afraid of anyone they can beat anyone. Tell that to Trouba.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Tell that to Trouba. Make sure you do it with the lights off though. Wouldn't want a shadow to startle him.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 The Jays were a half inning away from becoming half a game back, yeah, it's possible.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 We're close. Royals lose, were a half game back
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Baltimore will score runs just because they can without even trying. Luckily the Rays probably won't score much but they might keep the score close.
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 The Royals are up 5-3 now. Mariners probably want to get the game over with as soon as possible so they can get into the clubhouse and play poker.
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Kansas is still scoring runs and extending this game's predictable outcome. Can't wait until tomorrow when the Blue Jays play in the only MLB game that I am interested in. At this point of the season the Blue Jays shouldn't hope for any help from teams out of contention.

All our projections make me laugh. We were going to sweep ATL. Sale was going to beat NYY and now we expect Yankees to sweep them. We just have to play our games one at a time and execute. We will be fine if we do that. We can't worry about what the NYY or KC does.
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I couldn't have said it much better BigCecil. Yanks, unlike the 'stros are a veteran team that has proven again and again that they can handle adversity and can and will bounce back. (e.g. after they were swept by the Jays in NY). Ironically the only exception seems to be against the Jays. For a variety of reasons, we've matched up well against them this year. We seem to be the one team that can take their punches and always come back with an answer - at least so far into the season. There are some that think that we have this thing locked up because of what happened this last series. To me, that's just being caught up in the emotional high yesterday and the lingering hangover today. The Yanks will scrap and fight to the end. The guys on their team have been around for too long to give up. They don't know anything but to fight to the end. We have 6 games against the Rays, a team that historically we haven't matched up well against. We need to take care of our own business - make this into a 10 game season and win as many as possible. Everything else will fall into place All our projections make me laugh. We were going to sweep ATL. Sale was going to beat NYY and now we expect Yankees to sweep them. We just have to play our games one at a time and execute. We will be fine if we do that. We can't worry about what the NYY or KC does.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I'm forgetting about the Royals until the last series at the Trop. Why look ahead while trying to hold off the Yanks?
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The Kansas City Royals will have to face Cleveland for 2 more games this weekend in Kansas, and then go on the road and face Chicago Cubs on Monday (make-up game), White Sox for two games and then the Twins for three games next weekend - http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=kc#y=2015&m=9&calendar=DEFAULT . So if the Blue jays can continue to play well for the final 8 games they have a good chance of tying the Royals (or better) and thus getting first place overall. Hopefully the Blue Jays won't celebrate the winning of the AL East with too much campaign and lose the edge in winning the AL best record.

Because you're not a player, you're a fan and fans can look ahead as far down the line as they want and speculate on how they think it's going to pan out. Price is almost automatic lately bro, he's gonna pitch a f***in shutout!! WOOOOOOOOO!!!! I don't get how most of you guys think this is some kind of pipe dream. THEY-ARE-ONE-GAME-BACK AND OWN THE TIEBREAKER!! They could have sole possession of the AL by TOMORROW night. This is happening. It is inevitable.

It is inevitable. Of course it isn't a pipe dream, so I said "tie (or better)" because I know the Blue Jays only need a tie. However, it isn't completely inevitable since the Blue Jays aren't playing the Royals over the last 8 games and therefore the Blue Jays need to count on the teams that Kansas is playing to beat the Royals. On August 25th, the Royals were at 77 wins - 48 losses - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp#20150825, as of last night (one month later) they were 89-64 so they have only gone 12-16 over the past month. The Royals haven't been very good over the past month.
