I'm getting ahead of myself but does anyone who we play if we end up with the best record in the league, the Yankees win the WC game, and end up having a better record than the AL West division winner?

Do we play the Yankees or the AL West winner?

If I'm correct, it should be the winner of Wild Card whom the Jays will face if they are #1 by the end of the season.

Doesn't matter world serries here we cum!

Finishing 1st overall is absolutely huge!! Getting to face the wild card team is a huge advantage since we likely only face their #1 pitcher once.

It's all there for us. The division is a foregone conclusion. Home field is next on our hit list. I'd be shocked if we didn't get that too.

Never count your chickens.

It's certainly within their grasp... And things are trending positively, but I'm not going to assume that they'll lock it up. All it takes is an untimely 2-3 games losing streak and 2-3 game win streak by the Royals.

But damn...locking up home field would taste almost as sweet as the poon I had last night.

I don't care how sweet that poon is or was, it's got nothing on home field.

The Indians are 3 back of the 2nd Wild Card. They could be the Mets of the East if they make the playoffs, even if they had to burn Kluber in the one game. Still a long shot for them since they have to pass 3 teams in 16 games, but when those teams are mediocre (Twins/Angels) and free falling (Houston), anything is possible. I wouldn't want to face them in the ALDS.

My hope is for a Jays/Twins ALDS. Is that too much to ask for?

Don't care. Jays in postseason. They match up with any team.

I'm in the same boat, as after 22 years it won't matter to me either after the 1st pitch of an actual playoff game is thrown, but the Indians look scary to me if they make it.

They have a chance. If they make it, they will be scary because they will have to get hot.

They're not his chickens! He's a fan just like you, therefor he can look as far ahead as he wants to! The Jays priority is winning the division right now, but you all need to take a good look at who we play next! We take 2 of 3 from the Yankees and it's a rap! at that point Jays may already be in control of the AL!

Might be down to a half game after tonight, Seattle is up one run late.

KC is really staggering to the finish. It's 50-50 right now that we catch them.

If Tanaka goes in the WC game he'll be limited to one appearance in the ALDS, unless he pitches on two days rest which won't happen obviously, that's a pretty sweet deal along with homefield in the ALCS, same goes for whoever the Astros throw in the WC. On the other hand the Yankees are probably a better team than the Rangers and you'll risk facing them as the number 1 seed

Would it better to have the royals keep the top spot and I would only assume that the yankees win the WC playoff. Then let them battle the royals and hope to have either team worn out, coming into the Division finals. if the baseball gods willing, allow us to play in the division finals with KC or NY.

Best case scenario?

I wouldn't assume nothing at this point a 1 and done game with presumably both top pitchers going anyone can win.

f*** everyone else. The team that scares me is the Rangers. I want nothing to do with them. I don't care about their record or plus minus. They're rolling. They got blinkers on and they're playing with house money. Not that we can't beat them or anything, but they're the only team in the AL that I wouldn't fancy us more than 50 50 against.

I don't even think about who I fear we may face. Baseball is a crazy game and as I see these postings get written about fearing the Rangers or the Royals or HOU.....

At the same their fans are looking at Price, Stro and our offense and fearing us. We are dangerous and if healthy and things break right, we can beat anyone and win it all.

adding to this, home field advantage should be the focus, not who the Jays might face. postseason series are short and any team can get lucky. home field advantage is the only available hedge against the influence of random 'lady luck'

Facing Rangers >>>> Home Field in ALCS.

I'd rather have home field.

Every team that makes the post season has shown that they can win...otherwise they wouldn't have the record to be in the playoffs. Texas is capable of beating anyone. Any team can beat anyone else really. I like the added advantage of having a game at home with this in mind.

Yet the Rangers have struggled vs. Toronto, being 2-4. And really, a lot of their success has been due to weak Seattle and Oakland teams, and dominating a Houston team, who is good, but has really struggled this month (7-14), due to bullpen struggles and fatigue with the rotation. It is still possible the Angels could sneak in as well, as LA's remaining schedule is favorable, and they've dominated the Rangers this season.
