It was for last night's game. This is f***ing ********. Seller is obviously lying. I'm pretty pissed right now, because I don't see this ending with stubhub giving me my money. So some ******* potentially got to go to game 5 for free

Let us know the outcome... That's f***ing bs.

Not sure if it helps, but there is a specific area at the Rogers Centre that deals with issues that happen at the gates during ticket scanning. They somehow verify who the ticket owner is or something. I overheard it when I was entering the gates yesterday, something like ticket box office customer service. My guess is the person you sold it to, printed, sold it to someone else, but entered the gates before the second buyer entered? Then they acted like the second buyer to get their money back?

Damn man, that is freakin' ridiculous. Someone knew exactly what they were doing.

Yeah thats a scary thought. I would be absolutely pissed if that happened.

It also doesn't make sense? Once you sell through stub hub the bar code changes. Therefore Stangstag had absolutely no chance of entering the game. If the barcode changes, only the buyer has access to the new bar code, and he then should be responsible for entering the game. Only he could print out multiple copies and have someone get in before him. I would suggest saying this when you complain man, thats horse s***.

What the f***. Just got an email from Stubhub that i'm not going to get paid because the buyer claims my tickets were already scanned? What the hell? Anybody ever have this problem? This is my first time ever selling through stubhub. What do I do?

Wow man that's complete s***, that's one of my biggest fears of selling on stubhub.

That's terrible. Makes me scared to use Stub hub now

Me too... And now I'm on the hook for $3800 which I obviously can't afford. I thought I would be able to cover the cost of the tickets by selling some of them for above face value... Now I don't know what to do.

did you read my response? Send that to Stubhub. A seller literally has no control over the tickets once they sell through stub hub with the bar codes changing. The buyer probably tried to sell his tickets or something

Jesus how many tickets did you sell for last night?

I'm sorry to hear what happened to Stangstag and I hope you are validated. I saw this clause when buying my Stubhub tickets and was ready to pull the trigger if my tickets didn't work. Secondary market... wild west... the name of the game is scam.

I'd also like to echo Hurl's statement. If you want to sell your tickets for exorbitant prices, there are many other places to do it. $250 a piece for 535 row 21?

Furthermore, the idea that you want to 'recoup' the costs of tickets is insulting when you sell them for 2-3x the amount. That's not just recouping the costs, that's profiting. That's making someone else pay for YOU to attend the games. If you can't afford to go to games, then either admit you are doing it for profit or don't go.

Well I have work tonight, so no time to deal with this BS right now. I'll keep you guys posted though.

I'm just super angry because the likely outcome is that i'll be refunded my service charge (stubhub is trying to keep the 100$ service fee) and nothing else.

Hopefully I can get my money... I would be pissed off if I just missed the greatest Jays game in my lifetime for nothing.

I broke even on the ALDS tickets. Went to 2 games, sold the 3rd and made the money back.

Yes I'll keep you guys posted. Has this happened to anyone else here before?

Are you guys sure the bar codes change? Jays are one of the few teams that aren't officially affiliated with stub hub because of our archaic provincial laws

I called stub hub and asked them and they told me it changes.

Not pointing at you! it was the other guys defending coming in here with ridiculous prices.

So you get the money, then use it to soak up spills?

Holy crap, that was one crazy autocorrect. But really, you get the money to dry your baby's head off from the beer. It's the only way to ensure they grow up with a full appreciation of the value of cash.

Makes me scared to sell on StubHub (only have done it once). It seems like they protect the buyer more than the seller.

I know I'm in the minority here but I prefer this over the other alternative. Generally buyers already have to shell out way more than face for a ticket so they should be protected at all costs. It sounds like stag got screwed and the scenario where his tickets were resold is very likely. I really hope it's resolved but it may come down to a he said / she said scenario.

I hope the Jays are able to show that only one set of tickets were scanned, thus proving that the second set was never attempted and therefore how could the buyer claim he was locked out.

I went to a game in April against the braves, it was a bobblehead day. I arrived at the gate with my gf and neither of our tickets would scan, saying they've already been used. A couple attempts at speaking to someone were passed off before a man in a suit said he can't help me because stubhub is a 3rd party seller, and not affiliated with them.

I left the gate and called stubhub, who I was on the phone with for 20 minutes (and all the bobbleheads dissipated) before the Rep emailed me 2 new similar value tickets. Guess what, I don't have a printer attached to my cell phone and stubhub tickets aren't able to be scanned off your phone at the gate. Off to the hotel we went.

All in all I was in the game 45 minutes after first pitch and the Jays lost to the freakin braves.

I drove from Kingston, 2.5 hr drive.

I explained all this in two emails to stubhub and I was given a $20 coupon to use on my next purchase. That wouldn't cover their fees for a decent seat at any meaningful event.

They are a money grabbing organization and they have a monopoly on the market. It's gross.

Good luck.

fyi for anyone who needs to print next time - use the UPS store just west of BlueJaysway and Front St.

Yeah I have no problem buying on StubHub since I know you're 100% protected, especially when you're purchasing expensive tickets. Though as a seller, hearing that story makes me want to sell my tickets for cash instead of online like that. Thing is if this guy has pulled a stunt like that before, you think StubHub would catch on that the guy is always making claims that his tickets never scanned? Plus, as a seller, you don't get any money back and basically threw away expensive tickets for nothing.

Secondary market ticket selling is a money grabbing business. You inherit risk on BOTH sides when you enter the secondary market.

Yes it sucks but this is not the Blue Jays box office...

Pretty s***** experience. If I had one like that I would likely feel the same way.

Ive had different luck I guess. Ive bought hundreds of tickets off stub hub and sold about 10 times and have literally never had one problem.

Yeah thats the one thing that sucks about the Rogers Centre and some other sporting venues. You can scan your tickets via mobile for teams associated with Stubhub (e.g. the Mets and Giants from my past experience). Makes it so much easier when purchasing seats at the last minute.

Someone who does that doesn't sign up with one account. I'm sure if this is a scam he has multiple accounts that he rotates through. I tend to agree though that selling face to face / cash in hand is better for the seller, but could also be riskier for the buyer.

Like I said above, the secondary market is not an official regulated market. Just like how you can't go to the cops and complain that your weed dealer shorted you on your purchase, the secondary market all comes down to trust and risk aversion/tolerance. Stubhub will provides the frameworks and mechanisms to help resolve issues for sellers, but I doubt they go the extra mile given that it's the buyers that make their business model work.

Also, thanks again for the tic jaysblue! I had an awesome time, albeit sad in the end. I fully regret not going to Game 5 right now and 'saving my money' for WS tickets given I probably have no shot at them during the public sale.

Take a look at this reply:

http://stub-hub-reviews.measuredup.com/Complaint-sellers-and-buyers-beware-51782

Basically, call Rogers Centre and see if they can issue you a scan report to see how many times the ticket was scanned.

If the ticket was scanned more than once, then someone had a duplicate copy of your ticket and scanned in previously. They would have to investigate further to see if the seller scammed or if the venue double sold a ticket.

If there was only one scan, then the buyer is obviously lying.

^Do this. Explain what is going on too. They will be very interested if this type of reverse ticket fraud is going on. It figures you get scammers selling fraudulent tickets, and than scammers reverse scamming because of the fraudulent tickets.

Fyi - each time you make a new print or transfer request, a new barcode is generated. But you can print the same barcode multiple times. Older barcodes will not scan at the gate, only the most current barcode will work. So if you uploaded a barcode to stubhub, and then for some reason logged into your account manager, its possible the sold barcode could be rendered void.

This happens all the tome. You create a stubhub listing by downloading the pdf and then uploading to stubhub. While youre waiting for it to sell, you log back into account manager and print a copy for yourself to keep and boom --- the stubhub saved barcode is dead.

So if the barcode that was transferred to the seller was used, it comes down to word against word. So either the buyer is a liar and trying to pull a fast one, or you accidently f***ed yourself. The only other possibility is a 4th party logged into your account manager and stole your tickets.

Any of these scenarios suck, feel for ya
